It has been a long time since Marpig bloggies bcos of her really heavy workload... Marpig is a workaholic and always gets too engrossed in wat she is doing, so much so tt she will 4get to eat for the whole dae until dinner (when she eats like a pig) and drinks many cuppa tea on an empty stomach
Anyw, itz gd to be busy in this economic climate and she is currently facing an ironic dilemma; she is afraid if she gets promoted this yr, her position will be risky IF therez another round of redundancy... oh well since Marpig cant do anyth, shez not going to think too much!!!! Kao. To be promoted is a gd th but why is it not the case now?! :S
BTW, Marpig thought of an analogy while going to work one dae...
In the coporate world, therez sm pple who pretend to work, cut corners, look hardworking, do ths 1/2 heartedly, but still managed to climb the corporate ladder
Therez also another group of pple who are really down to earth, hardworking, don cut corners and do ths with all their heart & soul. Although they still climb the corporate ladder, why do they have to put in more effort to achieve the same results than those who didnt put in effort?
So watz the analogy here? The 1st group of pple who don put in much effort but bulls**t here, there, everywhere to get to where they are are those pple who jaywalk (ooops, therez so many pple who jaywalk!!) To shorten the time to x the road, jaywalkers cut corners, sprint, roll, fly and all sorts of stunts. Yes, they get to the other side of the road faster but of cos, ttz assuming they are not knocked down
Then there are the 2nd group of pple who are the complete opp to the 1st group of pple. They don jaywalk and wait for the green man, even if therez no cars. Though they take longer to x the rd, eventually they still get there
Marpig used to jaywalk back home bcos every1 else is doing it, but ever since she is in the UK, she doesnt jaywalk and always wait for the green man. If she does jaywalk bcos her colleagues or sis are, she will feel so scared!! (Marpig am scared she will be ran over by cars, yeh yeh~ timid Marpig)
So, yup, the bottom line is (after grandmamaz story) Marpig am feeling unfair bcos why is she always putting in so much effort into doing ths right and not climbing the ladder any faster?! Oh well, to be GOOD in wat u do & be recognised is more impt

Humans & Lollies
Havent been doing much news reading recently bcos am far too busy and all news are bad or gloomy news. Is it bcos Marpig am getting older (with her mental state far ahead of her age) tt she is bcoming more n more indifference?
Well, nope since Marpig am going to begin an open-ended discussion bout whether human beings ARE indeed selfish
Just read an article & tt Mr Brown (not SGz Mr Brown. His blog is FANTASTIC!! Marpig only read it once!!) but Mr G. Brown, PM of the UK & ministers will implement a "migrant tax". ... Oh well oh well, just a summary:
All migrants outside of the EU, wishing to apply visas for work and/or study will need to pay xtra 50 quid to "cover costs on public services"
Wat a load of s**t!! Like wat the article and comments from pple in the above article, migrants like Marpig who studied 1 yr and worked in the UK are already paying sooooooo much more than Brits and yet, implementing a migrant tax (it doesnt affect Marpig since she already got her work visa long ago) is 102% insulting and discriminating and lack evidence to substantiate the "pressures put on public services" Kao. In fact, Marpig don see the doctor at all (if she can help it) and try so hard not to fall sick!!
Kao, like every Brits, Marpig pays income tax, pays tax on savings, pays council tax (SGz HDB also collect lollies; to sweep yr corridors and bring yr lubbish to landfills), pays National Insurance (put it bluntly, lollies collected from the minority gd for the majority lazy bums who doesnt wanna work) However, unlike the Brits, Marpig pays double the tuition fees and cannot claim any benefits (not tt Marpig needs it) and "no recourse to public funds"
So, why the hell does pple like Marpig have to pay taxes for lazy bums but yet am not entitled to anyth?! Gosh, the pressures on public funds isnt just attributable to black sheep migrants but Brits themselves!!
Anyw, this migrant tax thingy sets 珠子 rolling again. 1st of all, migrant tax encompasses many issues tt are inter-twined and which Marpig wanna discuss. Always wanting to find the root of everyth, Marpig decided not to focus on the superficial issues but going back to the point tt humans are indeed "for his/her own" aka 人不为己天诛地灭
With global recession, every1 is hot on their heels to keep themselves as safe as possible. Hence, sm pple cant be bothered bout fellow species, "as long as it doesnt concerns/affect me" & "stay away from trouble"
Not sure bout SG media, but hell!! International papers are pointing fingers as who to blame, who must apologise (as if it helps anyth at all), keep jobs to the locals and "limit skilled migrants" (basically, get rid of outsiders)
人就是这样, when ths go (terribly) wrong, pple try their best to shift responsibilities, find scapegoat(s), maximise ownz interests, etc how pathetic.
So ironic, bcos Marpig isnt in her comfort bubble and is 身在其中, she is able to 置身事外 to see ths both like a 当局者 & 旁观者
She doesnt like the CP who flooded her homeland in swarms although she finds it baffling and unfair for Singaporeans to look down on Msians. Well, Marpig admits she can be xtreme and bias (which she did long ago when she wrote bout stereotyping) but the black sheep (in fact, quite alot) among the CP doesnt have gd reputation. For lollies, they will and can do anyth
Msians working in Singapore are often looked down by Singaporeans. Of cos, therez always black sheep who spoil the market
However, in hindsight, Marpig working in the UK is much like any other foreigners working in a foreign country. Hence, Marpig am able to understand how fellow migrants feel and do understand tt therez always black sheep which spoilt the collective reputation of other innocent migrants
BUT, Marpig just dont get this; why are ang mohs migrants working in asian countries being treated sooooooooo differently?!

Previously Marpig mentioned tt therez lots of chinese proverbs which Marpigz mom taught her and which always reminded Marpig of her... herez a few more...
"一寸光阴一寸金，寸金难买寸光阴"

"十年窗下无人问，一举成名天下知" as well as one of Marpigz favs,
Ah~~~ ... ...
In fact, the whole poem is like this,

Marpig & Me
During tt 1 yr in London, Marpig brought with her, all the piggies (as seen from very old bloggie entries)
Currently, most of the piggies are home with others (each of Marpigz soft toys has a story but who's hasnt? Duh) xcept Piggie & a Plush Puppy (? Push Puppy? Ya noe, the very old doggie soft toy tt was once very popular... watz it called?) Hence, Marpig is sleeping with her 猪朋狗友!! :D Perfect match!!
B4 Marpig came back to the UK, Mimi T gave Marpig a book which she said it is nice & tt Marpig would love it + itz really touching. Watz the title of the book? "Marley & Me"
Marpig didnt read it, since she has been working like mad ever since she was back. However, she had just went to the cinema to watch "Marley & Me"!!
Itz just another movie; nice enough to let Marpig sit tight for 2 hrs & teared!!
It was a comedy all right, but the last bit was touching
Marpig did thought of keeping a doggie for a pet in the future. However, not sure if Marpig mentioned b4, but she is also very reluctant bcos she doesnt want the animals to die "at her hands"
Nay, not tt Marpig is cruel to animals but when Marpig was young, she kept a bird. It felt ill and died. Then, she kept guppies. They jumped out & fell onto the floor, Marpig noe naught wat to do since they were too slippery & fragile to hold. Marpig could only looked in utter horror while they gasp and... died. :(
Although not Marpigz own pets, but Marpig went with fren to bought these guinea piggies (宝宝 & 宝贝) & Marpig sooooooo lurves them!!
Bought toys and food for them to eat and play, helped to take care & played with them. But heu, one fine dae, fren called Marpig & told Marpig tt 宝宝 wasnt feeling very well (it vomited blood!!) and not too long later, it died :(
And so, taking the body of 宝宝 in a box, Marpig & fren went to cremate it at an animal crematorium...
Sigh... really, Marpig lurves animals, so much so, she really do not want the animals to suffer and died "at her hands" Not bcos Marpig doesnt want to take up the responsibility (in fact she has lots of it) but guess Marpig doesnt want to feel guilty... if the pet dies, Marpig would feel as though itz her fault u see... :S
Oh well, therez many ths in life which we do not need to own/possess

山穷水尽疑无路，柳暗花明又一春

Many chinese proverbs, etc remind Marpig of her mom (since Marpig inherited her momz 墨水 among other ths, though not handwriting, darn!!) This xplains Marpigz 高超的华文程度 (hahahahahahaha!!)
Maybe Marpigz 高超的华文程度 also rubbed off on Marpigz sis; she isnt too bad considering she hated chinese but generally, she is slightly more than 半桶水(?) :P
Speaking bout 柳暗花明又一村, this definitely reminds Marpig of her sis since Marpigz sis always says this :)
Oh, another phrase which will remind Marpig of her sis is "风花雪月" which Marpig always used to describe to Marpigz sis bout the recent heavy snow in the UK (although Marpig noes the actual meaning is not heavy snow... hmmm not sure if Marpigz sis get the joke...)
Anyw, in response to the previous 2 (damning) bloggie entries and to remain optimistic in the current climate of ths, Marpig would like to say,

Recently, Marpig has been harbouring "very impartial" thoughts. 1st, she thinks tt the world economies deserve it when it comes to having a shitty recession where everyth goes down, down and (sm) down under
Now, she thinks tt the increase in deaths caused by news diseases, re-surfaced diseases (polio, TB, etc), cancers, etc in the human race is also 应该的
Much like the notion of economies growing too rapidly with no ltd which is 不对的, the human race pop is also infesting the world like rabbits. Itz been a long time since pple noe tt world pop is increasing in an xponential rate
Hence, the increase of new diseases, re-surfaced diseases as well as increase in cancers of all sorts are "solutions" to the growing human race pop (OMG. Sound like Hitlerz "final solution"!!)
Read article where China & India have the worldz highest no. of smokers. In addition, therez this article bout F1 boss, Max Morsley, (who is famous bcos video of him participating in Nazi-themed orgy was made public). He said he regretted it & tt his dignity is gone, etc etc etc. All Marpig could say are, 早知今日又何必当初 & men~
Anyw, coming back to the point, bcos therez too many pple, bcos the economies are doing too (unhealthily) gd, pple bcame more & more 堕落, conceded & disillusioned, in turn, pple starts taking ths for granted & neglect lotsa simple & basic ths. Health is one of the many neglected ths
Hmm... maybe God really want to punish all of us (innocent or not) & triggered all the worldly problems we have now...

This entry will be a short one (Marpig always says this!!)
Not tt Marpig am gloating (why would she?) and it isnt gd for Marpig anyw (she doesnt make lollies nor does she keep lotsa lollies so tt she could buy companies & cheap shares), but the recent global recession is 应该的
1st of all, nth in this world can be red and rosy constantly. Biz will never be on the up 4ever. Gd times and profits dont last 4ever
The recent few yrs see the world economies, including those developing countries, enjoying rapid and continual growth which seems to go on 4ever. Every1 suddenly bcame affluent with lotsa lollies. 这是不对的!!
Hence, pple like Prof. Nouriel Roubini predicted tt the world economies will crushed inevitably (Iceland is bankrupt)
Sigh... but pple never like to listen to criticism, warnings, etc. Marpigz mom always used to tell Marpig, "人就是喜欢听好听的" which is so, so true. If only pple can 虚心听教, this global recession wont be as bad as now
Oh well, itz gonna be a lesson to all to remind pple tt with gd times, there will be bad
With adversity, comes diversity, strategy, foresight and preparedness for the future
