Umk, u noe watz Bulimia = binging on food and/or regular overeating with a feeling of loss of control. To prevent weight gain, the sufferer wil induce vomit or use the "lao sai" method
Then therez the "Leetle Match Gal" who, although as thin as a match and feeling very hungry, does not want to eat as shez got a distorted self-image. BTW, anorexia is just a medical term for lack of appetite while Anorexia Nervosa (AN) is the mental illness of self-starvation. AN has the highest mortality rate of psychiatric disorders, apparently
Those are the 2 xtremes and itz a blessing tt none of Marpigz frens are sufferer of any. BUT!! Here comes smth else which Marpig thought sm of her frens (and sm of her relatives) might be inclining to be... Orthorexia Nervosa (ON)
With more pple being "kiasi" now, itz not a surprise if one is an ON sufferer. In Greek, ortho = right/correct while orexis = appetite. Therefore, Orthorexia is "correct appetite". However, sufferers pay attention to the quality of food instead of quantity of food, as in bulimics and anorexics
Basically, orthorexics are obsessed with eating healthily, banning any food they believe are unhealthy or are poison to the body. The sufferers may also find it hard to dine at frensz/rests bcos they are nervous bout the ingredents. If they break the rules, they feel guilty and wil try al means to detox their body
An article said tt women who play sports are most at risk but Marpig would definitely disagree!! Wat a sweeping statement!! Anyw, knowing pple just love taking short personality tests and the likes, below are 10 questions (the Bratman Test) to assess if u might be suffering from ON (Marpigz ans in brackets):
1) Do u spend more than 3 hrs a dae thinking bout yr diet? (no, not the diet but the food and Marpig always think of wat to eat next)

World Press Photo
Itz another cold wkend and Marpig, with her usual cuppa tea & her fav Kinder Bueno, am typing away on al ths she want to share, comment and interested in
B4 she dives into smth which 102% inspires, xcites, mesmerise, etc her and also the ths which affect how her infinite thoughts are formed, she wanted to lament how times have gone by as quickly as she typed this WORD...
And so, Whitney Houston passed on at age 48. Am actually listening to her songs now. Itz really sad tt the hardworking, talented, "with heart" generation is ylwols gone with the passing time... Argh!! Marpig am having blue vibes!!
Umk, back to the World Press Photo. Itz an annual competition of photojournalism from al over the world. They do go on international xhibit tour, xhibiting al the contestantsz photos in various category, each with a story to tel (but not in the Leetle Red Dot or China, surprise surprise) Stil rem Marpig went to the xhibition held in the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh back in Aug 2009. Was a truly brilliant xhibition. Think Marpigz dad would love it as much as Marpig does :) Could spend the whole dae there!!

Marpig rem standing by and watching (just like the photographer) how Marpigz dad was feeding Marpigz mom fish porridge... *hot tears streaming down*...
... ... Itz actually a blessing smtimes to not let go of certain people and ths when most pple seems to be devoid of many feelings and emotions and walking like a machine tt only knows work

Fruits & Vege Picking
Before harvesting diff types of fruits, vege, taking lotsa pics as wel as learning and SEEING how fruits and vege are grown (树上 or 地上), Marpig must update how she got on with her 1st dae of not having internet on her mobile (back to the basic mobile mode)
As with kicking a habit (or more like addiction!!), she underwent the following stages in a span of a dae:
a) Acceptance - tt she wont be having internet on her mobile meaning she cant play nonstop like a 疯子
b) Frantic scouring for alternatives - cold turkey isnt fun and Marpig had been trying to find free WIFI hotspots (ttz as secure as possible), near Cosy Barn3
c) Calmness, finally
d) Replacing the habit with another (old) habit - the NDS!!
e) Occasional urge - Marpig was checking her mobile every so often but not anym, which is gd!!
Anyw, Marpig got to know tt therez free WIFI at the library in the leisure centre, opp Tesco, near Cosy Barn3. Hence, like a drug addict whoz found a place to get a kick, she decided to go to the lib. HOWEVER, Marpig did want to go to the lib for smth impt too; borrow travel guides on Norway. Really really!!
Reflecting now, itz a gd th Marpigz used up her data allowance on her mobile for the following reasons:
1) Realisation of how quick mobile technology had advanced over just a few yrs and humansz reliance on al ths "online". Can u stil rem the time when everyone was in awe of mobile phones which can only make calls and send messages?
2) Being made self-aware tt Marpig is actually addicted to playing games on the mobile and looking at it frequently!! Bad habit and rude!! Gonna 收敛!!
3) She set foot in a lib and became a lib member once again after 6 yrs!! She even borrowed 2 books!!
4) She did an hour of reading in the lib!!!!!!! (was reading the travel guide for Norway) TTz just so unbelievable!!!!!!!
Ho hum. Letz go to Hewitts Farm, Orpington, Kent now!!
Was a nice dae (Marpigz bdae) during last yrz July and fam drove to Hewitts Farm for a dae of fun outing. Apparently, Marpigz sis was very xxxcited bcos she can pick lotsa fruits and eat them fresh
Wanted to pick strawberries but heu!! They were al gone last wkend!! Cos strawberries season is slightly earlier, according to the farmers. There goes strawberries with cream and Champagne!!
But no worries!! Since therez more than just strawberries in the 78-acre farm!!
As with al "pick-yr own" farms, one would get sm baskets/containers and fill them up with produce and pay by the weight upon leaving. Without anym delay and b4 more pple come (ang mohs love picking their own + organic stuff), Marpig and fam started off with red currants!!
Umk, red currants grow in low shrubs and look like tt b4 they are packed and shipped to the supermarkets!!
有红当然有黑!! 要不然怎么会近墨者黑, 近朱者赤呢?! hahahahaha
Black currants on their stalks!! Stil rem was eating whilst picking (not allowed!!) but need to assess whether they were sweet for the harvest 嘛!! hahahahaha
Being so close to nature which is 1 of Marpigz interests (with the chance to eat too), Marpig took lotsa pics, took time to observe and learn bout the plants and animals. Guess wat fruit has tt flower?

Gooseberries!! *yumyumyum* Saw a lady whoz picked lots of them. Had a chat with her and learnt which ones were gd and ready to pick as wel as sm jam/tart recipes using gooseberries!! :D
Although itz a fam outing, each member had very diff interests!! Marpigz BIL is pretty nonchalent; Marpigz sis is the kiasu one, Marpigz dad was only there to take pics (& eating as he went!!) while Marpig is everyth!! hahahaha

And now, the small insects!!
A red Soldier Beetle (order: Coleptera, for beetles) on flowers of a fruit (??). They feed on other insects (snails ands slugs included apparently) and are often seen in pairs/groups. They are also nicknamed "bonking beetles" bcos they often seen in mating pairs (this one just hasnt found itz mate yet). 1 generation is a yr. 好短...
A Longhorn Beetle aka Longicorn on flowers. It has antenna as long as itz own body, although other fam members have shorter ones
Being a responsible blogger and photographer whoz not a Colepterist (pple who study beetles, rem the order for beetles mentioned above?), Marpig did a bit of research and reading on the animals she photographed and featured umk!! :D
Diff vege, fruits and flowers grow differently and definitely look very diff during various stages of their growth. And Marpig always believes tt sm games do have teaching value; e.g., Farm Story!! Having played Farm Story and looking at the photos in this bloggie entry, Marpig can really relate to them al!! (Trying hard to justify her xcessive gaming habit!!)
Those are the flowers of the onion plant!! The bulbs (fruits) are undergrd while the leaves are above!! Main th is 从头到脚都能吃!! :D_
Above are cauliflowers in their leafy beds!! Marpig dont really like cauliflowers unless they are boiled and with cheese!!
Above are rows of golden courgettes. Courgette are aka zucchini aka summer squash
A close up of the golden courgettes. So they grow on the ground... Although Marpig dont really noe tt, but shez not tt silly as to think tt courgettes grow on trees umk!!
Ooh!! And above is 1 of Marpigz fav, specially when diced and fried with eggie!! Green beans aka french beans aka squeaky beans (bcos of the sound they make when 1 is chewing them)!! JM, are they called "orh guay dao" (Hokkein) too? If not, then watz "orh guay dao"?
Marpig was holding a long and plum broad bean!! 真的好大一条!! And very fresh too!! (Didnt eat but looks very fresh!!)

Neat rows of cabbages!! Ya noe, the word cabbage always reminds Marpig of the Cabbage Patch Kids... never like playing with dolls (xcept Barbie and Ken) Gosh, sm of the contemporary dolls look even worse!!
Having spent almost a dae (picking and eating) x 2, they went to their last stop; raspberries!!
Gosh, there were already quite a few raspberry pickers when they arrived!!
The situation was made more 紧张 bcos there werent many gd ones left!! OMG!! Hence, to not "吃白果" (Cantonese) + since itz the final stop, Marpig stopped taking pics and focused on picking raspberries!!
And wala!! 大丰收!! :D Gosh, al tt prickly pricks in the shrubbery shrubs which Marpig suffered while trying to get to the hard-to-reach raspberries was worth it afteral!! The raspberries were 102% sweet and super fresh and taste nth like those in the supermarkets!! Never knew raspberries (and all the other fruits and vege picked tt dae) 会这么好吃!!

However, the level of 感情 btw oneself and those sm1s/smths may b taken as the main driving force for wanting to continue the habit, whichever it is. Taking a leap in the discussion, comes the notion of how determined we are in achieving our goals. Since, more often than not, goals are achieved by consistently doing smth (hence, a habit) until 1 is very gd at it, while determination to see it through may b viewed as how impt a particular goal is to oneself (hence, an "affection")
Very a gd e.g., is Marpigz goal of achieving CEng which is v impt to Marpig and which requires Marpig to consistently keep track of her professional development for no less than 4 yrs (and through her professional career of cos!!) :D
Anyw, gonna b a short one bcos Marpig need to blog bout her fav fruit/vege picking at a farm during last yrz July!! *faints* 真的是时光不留人!!
1) She used up al her internet data allowance (1GB) in only 2 wks by watching Utube videos!! Hence, she wont b able to cook, bake or farm in her restaurant, bakery and farm respectively for 20 daes!! Ho hum, guess she wil use this 20 daes as a cold turkey period to get rid of her xcessive reliance aka habit (hey!! sounds familiar!! :D) on the mobile. Anyw, she had just switched to another mobile plan (for the same cost) to unltd data!! Very impt (very familiar idea again!!)
2) Itz super cold on a Saturday morning, Marpig having her usual cuppa tea, blogging and planning trips with the snow falling outside!! :D Heavier snow please!!
3) Shez going home from the 1st wk of June to mid June!! Cant wait!! Already planned badminton, cycling and KTV!! :D
