Attended church todae... sermon was toking bout the poor... things like they are not our burden but our brothers and sisters... hmm... Marpigz mind starts to wonder again...
Going back to JC daes when one of the major GP topics is in alleviating the poor, gap btw rich and poor etc... like a donut (don wanna use the gd ol' coin), therez always two sides of an argument... the poor is poor bcos of their own doings or the poor is poor bcos of our doings...
So naturally, when Marpig read bout "the poor is not our burden", Marpig cannot totally agrees... not bcos Marpigz is heartless but guess itz more like the work of rationality behind Marpigz mind...
Then todaez homly is bout Jesus giving food to 5000 pple with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes... then Father tok bout treasuring even a grain of rice cos like a loaf of bread, it contains the "soil and toil, wind and rain" of farmers and nature...
Marpigz mind drifted again... was thinking bout wat Marpigz said to cousin yesdae bout children are like pieces of blank papers, pure and easy to influence...
Itz pretty true tt children ought to be taught the correct morals right from the start... whether or not they follow/practise them is totally a diff story and itz up to themselves as well the environment + pple they encounter... Simply put, in Marpigz opinion, teaching morals to young children is actually giving them their conscience... a noble and graceful th to do in one's life...
Then Marpig also thought bout the Singaporeans children... having too much to eat tt they waste food... y'noe, they eat a few mouthfuls and if they don fancy it, there goes the food in the bin, with the parents' permission smore!! *shake head*
Enough bout children... cant really blame them cos maybe parents didnt teach them (some even encourage them!!) or tt they are too young to understand wat is the meaning of waste (rubbish, excuses!! Children now noes credit and debit more than any one of us!!)
Bout the adults... seen alot of horrible females (of cos, males on the rise too) wasting food cos of weight, etc... groundless excuses to throw away a whole plate/bowl of food barely touched... watz with these pple?! If u didnt have the appetite, don even order!!
***EXCEPTION: Unless the serving portion of the food is crazily too much, then leaving sm unfinished is pardonable***
Frankily, how many of us (except Marpig and some frens too) picks up a grain of rice dropped on the table or finish every single grain of rice now? How many of us now "have the time" to spare a thought for our frens? Not less to say those 3rd world pple who have no proper shelter over their heads, no clean water to drink, no staple food to fill their hunger, no milk to feed the starving babies, no medication at all, no clothes to keep them warm except their own tears at night?
We have more than enough to eat till we have heart disease due to obesity, we have expensive roofs over our heads, we have clean water to water our gardens, we have too much clothes and shoes bursting out of the wardrobes which we don even wear them more than 3 times, we have expensive medication, equipments and services even for a little sniff, fever and cuts...
Marpig really feel like crying for them while typing these... Seems like the majority of the whole world is taking everyth for granted...

Pressed D Button!!
*XXXCITED* Oh boy oh boy!! Cant wait!! Can even camp at LHR!!
Just did internet check-in!! Was allocated a window seat on the left wing (40C)... didnt really like the idea of being inside and not having the liberty to pee pee... so wanna change seats... but... guess wat, fully occupied!! Only left with a few seats... got aisle seat... then again... Marpig was thinking... if the plane is so cramp with pple... it doesnt matter if Marpig seat at the aisle... (actually, Marpig love window seat!! but for the sake of peeing and not disturbing others... Marpig is too considerate lah!! :P)
So, Marpig has chosen a window seat (33k) on the right wing!! (Yup, Marpig don believe in communism and likes free trade) Think if Marpig is going to nua 13 hrs, might as well take lotsa pictures out of the plane (think will be able to catch sunrise :D) as well as playing all the games and watching all the movies!! Hmm... as for peeing... oh well, cant be bothered too much now, can we?
Gonna grab sm last min shopping for Marpig-noe-who :D

Marpig been logging onto the SQ website for a dozen times within a few hours!! When will tt button to proceed for internet check-in appear?! OMG!! the wait is almost unbearable!! *fretting with xxxcitement*
Dreamt of taking airplane yesdae, sitting infront of air stewardess at the EE seat. Then again, EE seats are almost non-existence!! Well, itz harder to secure an exit seat than securing a piece of cloud in yr hands (Put cotton wool in the hands lah!! :P)
Been going back through the time again... was having Japanese fruit sweets... the 再见营火虫-themed fruit sweets, selling only in Japanese supermarkets. Was bought here in London (already finished one tin in Singapore) when Marpig was still "new"... now... *peering* still hav'gt maybe... 10(?) left in the tin...
Hahahaha... realised therez another tin of fruit sweets, new and unopened just bside the old one... bought in HK by Marpigz sis... really am so happy... really have the feeling of a younger sis... think Marpigz sis tot Marpig really love those sweets so bought it for Marpig... itz the tot tt counts!! :D But... actually Marpig am not fascinated by the sweets themsevles but the tin... :P
Rem other times when Marpigz dad also bought ths for Marpig when he goes overseas or shopping on his own... thinking Marpig actually like those ths... :) Marpig actually don 100% fancies those... itz always ths to do with comics tt Marpig seek... but nvm!! Itz the tot tt warms the heart!! :D
Think only Marpigz mom bought the correct ths tt Marpig truly likes... :) eg., Ken Ken Cuttlefish!! Ah~~~...
Does anyone of u ever wonder wat is the true meaning of "Living for Ever?" Marpig realised it means (Marpigz own perception) tt sm1 who, although had past away, remains "alive" in the memories of those pple whose lives she/he had touched in 1 way or another.
Eg. will be like Marpigz godmother and mother, those teachers (sm of them are still alive lah) who taught Marpig, relatives and frens...
Marpig also wishes to "live 4ever"!! Wanted to try to touch the lives of many pple... hmm... will really try to do even more volunteering!! Must treat relatives and frens well!! Not only them, but also other pple who crossed Marpigz path!! (Of cos not those unworthy ones)

Planning planning planning... to make full use of 1 month... (next comeback will be ard Feb & no time to play ard and got to fly back for work very soon...)
More or less confirmed going diving!! On 25th to 27th Aug to Pulau Dayang (Sexy Lady wanna come along?) Been wanting to go Pulau Hantu dive... but don have trips leh... hmm...
Gonna do alot of crazy nature walks too!!
1) Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve
2) Cycle in Ubin
3) Bukit Timah Nature Reserve
4) Bukit Batok Nature Park
5) MacRitchie and Tree Top Walk (ending with with prata and teh)
6) Labrador Park (Spooky~ but sunset/sunrise are very nice!! Last time Marpig went there was with SAJC hockey team for training in the evening minus other occasions when Marpig & frens were too timid to go in at night while spinning)
7) Sentosa (AGAIN!!)
Ah~~~ Quick... Marpig want to go home!!

Interesting Information
Watz so interesting u may ask...
For one, bedbugs can be used in medicine (although at this point in time, Marpig noe not any) and contrary to popular beliefs, bedbugs are not due to filth. So the cleanliness of the environment does not mean there will be no bedbugs. Of cos, pls do not use this as an xcuse not to pack the room!! :P
Toking bout packing the room... this is a physics law misused:
Like PE, things in upright or lifted positions have high energy. So, for eg, a shelf of books neatly arranged will have lots of PE = unstable equilibrium since they have a tendency to fall. The books will only be in stable equilibrium when they are messy. Cos they can fall/mess no further once they are already in a mess. Think this is a better xcuse to not pack the room... :P (Marpig used to make use of this!! hohohoho!!)
Other interesting information to share are humours. Eh... not humours humour. Itz an ancient theory used by the Greek and Roman physicians regarding the makeup of the human's well-being/health.
Just like the 4 major elements, fire, water, air and earth, there are also 4 humours; yellow bile, phlegm, blood and black bile respectively. According to the humour theory (no, don tickle yr funny bone, pls), human's health is balanced by these 4 types of liquids. If a person becomes ill, it means the person has excess of one of the liquids.

Mid Summer's Dae
Never expect London to be sooooooooooooo hot!! Itz a 烤烘炉!!
Temperatures soar until bout 30 deg... not as high as in Singapore u say? Right. Therez no wind AT ALL (even at night!!), no rain, no breeze, low humidity = even hotter and dry!! SCORCHING!!
Itz so hot that Marpig stoned every now and then, perspire AND sticky like chewy. Worse, so hard breathing cos itz hot air!! *bengz* Marpig don even feel so hot in Singapore!! ARGH~~~!!
Already suffering from insomia... together with the heat (even at night!! sob sob!!) don think can sleep liao...
Hmm... must intro this radio to frens: Magic 105.4!! PS u noe right? Itz pretty retro and plays songs like 80s and 90s... erm... even Capenters, Bee Gees etc... really nice to listen and relax... been wanting to listen to Class 95 but has got streaming probs so there.

Makan Makan!!
In just 10 daes, Marpig shall board SQ319 home!! 80% packed!! Hmm... gonna have a haversack, a comp bag and a waist pouch (pretty big) don noe can board or not... decided to bring piggies home cos they are homesick too
Been looking at food websites as usual... was at foodlane.sg and also Uniquely Singapore (tsk, took Marpigz slogan!!)... not very informative... erm... Uniquely Singapore was introducing those xxxhorbitant priced food and restaurants tt Marpig or frens may not go (eg, steamed spinach at 10 dolla... kao. Marpig boil and treat, FOC!!)
Then those stalls tt foodlane.sg introduced... Marpig never heard b4... erm... the hawker centres which the stalls are located Marpig heard b4 lah, but don believe those stalls are the delicious kind...
Maybe itz time for Marpig to create another blog; a food blog to share with frens... need yr help Sexy Lady!! Shall record any supper spree or makan spree!! Can also blog interesting ths to do at night in Singapore for the crazy too!!
Meanwhile, really cant wait to go home!! 10 daes... oh man!! seems so wols!! :s

Yet Another Turning Point...
Met sup todae... spent 45mins in getting program compiled and running via DOS rather than via windows... learnt new thing...
Was packing lugg... rolling the clothes, packing the files and books, putting soveniors... realise... Marpig is packing again... itz has been a yr... (to be exact itz 11mths...) ... ... ...
*thinking in deafening silent*
The last time PS was there to help Marpig in the packing... now, w/o her, the feeling is kinda lost... hahahaha Marpig really am lousy in packing lugg...
PSLE, O Levels, A Levels, mom passed away, uni grad, work, postgrad, working alone in a foreign country... turning points turning points... really... any individualz life can be so eventful... so bumpy... so colourful... so challenging...
Working in Bristol... yet another huge and dangerous challenge... afterall... UK is not a safe country as Singapore... Marpig being the minority... violence, drugs, stalking, rapes, murder, etc etc...
Alot of tots popped into Marpigz mind... reflecting and thinking bout the past yrs... thinking bout all tt Marpig has gone thru all these 25 yrs... itz really hard to describe tt kind of tots and feelings in words... sad yet happy, happy yet sad... glad yet regret... all the tears, the sweat and everyth... things done, words said... arh~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Realised the sun has gone down again... so slow yet it seems so fast... felt so sad it has gone down... like the curtains of a show ending... then again... realised in a couple of hrs, the sun will peek out of the horizon once again... giving the 1st light of a brand new dae... a new dae with unknown challenges ahead of us...

Marpig is a hoarder... a hoarder who keeps things with memories... the 1 St Deirdre class t-shirt, the Snoopy t-shirt Marpigz mom bought for Marpig, the Polo Ralph shirt tt Marpigz mom and dad bought, the Seiko watch given by Marpigz sis for Marpigz 21st bdae, etc... Marpig just cant bear to throw them away or use them... pple come... pple go...

Marpig is really precocious... however, there still exists, in some remaining little corners of Marpigz heart and mind, the idealistic childlike Marpig who doesnt want to grow up... how strange when things so contradicting coexist in harmony(?!)... *smile*

Intercom bell rang. A young male voice said he 4got his keys. Wanted someone to open the main door.
Marpig paused a while, opened the door.
Aftern 230pm:
Ready to return bicycle to fren. Went down. Discovered bicycle was GONE. Bar tt Marpig chained the bicycle to was broken.
SIGH... f**k!! A bicycle, with 2 locks, no seat (cos Marpig detached it) also got pple want to steal. Worse thing is Marpig is silly enough to open the door.
Realised only later tt someone couldnt have gone out without keys cos tt person need to lock the house then go out. F**K man!!
So, no bicycle to return, Marpig called up fren to ask him to sell to Marpig. Haggle price from 90 quid to 60 quid including 2 lights, 1 helmet, 2 keys for locks (but no more locks), a seat with back wheel cover. Bloody hell!! 60 quid for a bicycle!! ... no 60 quid to buy a bicycle for a f**ker!! CB!! (*&^%$#@!!

London Bikeathon
Wat a great workout after 11 months of inactivity!! Though the arse hurts alot and stamina plummet to negativity... but feeling of working out, straining those muscles, injuring those ligaments, letting the sun scorched Marpigz skin, etc was great!! (Not being sadist here umk!!) Knowing the next dae Marpig will be stiff and crying out in pain on the bed... wow!! Shiok!!
Morning, woke up at 7am... brush teeth and shower until 730am... then ate some sandwich and a cuppa milk till 8am... then go Sloane Sq on the district line from Bromley-by-Bow and reached bout 9am...
Outside station, met a Malaysian gal named LM, studying pharmacy (cool!!)... initiate the conversation with her and wala!! New found fren... then met her other frens (they joined as a team) so Marpig also join them lor (in case Marpig got lost!!) Then made about 10 odd new frens almost all from Malaysia and 2 from China and 1 from Sri Lanka... hmm... no Singaporeans except Marpig... wonder y... Singaporeans dozing at home? Studying in the summer? Shopping on a sundae? Feel tt London Bikeathon is a waste of time? oh well...
Therez bout... 5000 odd participants including those doing the Challenge Route (52 miles!!). Have got other categories like 26 and 13 miles... Yes. Marpig did the 13 miles!! Was considering doing a 26 miles but after 13 miles, Marpig realise her ankles are breaking (old aliments from hockey lah!!) and Marpigz stamina really CMI... so didnt want to be a hardy fool (foolhardy)... gungho level dropped... Overall, the terrain is challenging!! Portholes and bumps with dangerous London traffic (Marpig took the City Route) but hey, overall, drivers are cool and polite to give way to us all (though there was a time when one f**king arse kept honking at all the cyclists in a junction as if hez gonna go reincarnation)
Erm... a comparison btw cycling in Singapore and in London?... hmm...
Singapore:
1) Roads are well smoothed out for everyone (pple, cars, bikes, dogs, cats etc)
2) Drainage holes along the yellow lines (ttz dangerous for cyclists lor!!)
3) No cyclist lane at all
4) Drivers arent polite, will even try to scare cyclists or don bother to give way. Worse, don noe if drivers still rem the hand signals after they got their licence...
London:
1) Roads have bumps and portholes smtimes (gd for training, wont fall off but get a few nasty bumps on the arse)
2) No drainage holes (don think they need them) along the yellow lines which cyclists can safely ride and not fret bout falling over and risk running over by a passing car
3) Cyclists lanes everywhere, whenever and wherever possible, even in the middle of a 3 lanes traffic (gd for cyclists to make a turn at junction)
4) Polite and patient drivers (mostly) and also noe their hand signals
With regards to project management for such big events... both countries are learning from one another... maybe more so for Singapore cos Marpig noes a fren who works in the Singapore Sports Council who came London for a course on how Londoners hold their big events
Wat else to update on this... nth much... except Marpigz arse really hurts!! Pictures are with new found frens, will get it from them asap though wont post it up... meanwhile, herez at least smth taken by Marpig...

T.O.U.C.H.E.D
Was packing books and throwing away stacks of notes to get ready for flight home when Marpig finally opens the book tt PS gave Marpig on 28th Aug 2005...Kept it in front of Marpig all along and in good condition but just didnt open it until yesdae...
The moment Marpig saw and read it, Marpig was tearing!! Cos Marpig was simply touched by wat PS has done and written!! Plus, those pictures and "artifacts" were "carbon-dated" to ard 11 yrs ago!! Argh... cant believe it... cant believe it until now... cant believe time really waits for no one... time really changes everyth...
All sorts of emotions just started to well inside Marpig in the middle of the dark and lonely night in Cosy Barn... was blanked and read the book a few times... smiling to meself... :)
Itz so gd to be young... seems like only Marpig didnt change much over the years... totally stagnant!! hahahahaha if all of us could take another picture together in sch uniform again now tt we've grown older!! hahahaha can put the pictures side by side and compare... wow... COOL!!

Underwater Photography
ARGH~~~
Felt lugi in getting tt wonderful Sony Ericsson W800i mobile with 512MB of mem card and adaptor... don misunderstands... the mobile is great (especially when one's digicam runs out of batt!!) cos cant use tt mem card if Marpig 12 go into underwater photography!!
Was looking at Sony to see if they have any camera tt are suitable for underwater photography... sadly... none. Even more strange (& absurb) is that
1) Sony SG don carry cameras suitable for underwater photography
2) But they have lotsa cases for cameras tt can go underwater
3) But then again, Sony SG don seems to sell/carry a morsel of those ellusive cases (even Sim Lim Sq don carry them/only 1 or 2!!)
sigh... Love Sony cos Marpigz 1st digicam and itz pretty hardy and user-frenly etc... then again... doesnt have the requirements Marpig wants for her new interest...
The next choice Marpig is looking at is Nikon (!!) Cos:
1) Influence by Marpigz dad (all his camera from old old ones to newest one are Nikon)
2) Nikon, made in Japan, ttz wat Marpig loves (just like Sony)
3) Established brand
4) Has got alot of camera choices for underwater photography
5) Has got cases and Nikon SG does carry and sells them
Have already set eyes on COOLPIX 7900 (SGD700) or COOLPIX 5900 (SGD600) and the underwater casing WP-CP4 (SGD320)...
Think might just go for COOLPIX 5900 and the case = SGD 920... then again... for additional 100 bucks Marpig can upgrade to COOLPIX 7900 (ie, 5.1M pixels to 7.1M pixels)... hmm...
Then, still got to fork out $ to get SD cards!! *bengz*
Then diving also quite expensive and Marpig 12 buy a pair of boots and fins and a wetsuit (easily hit SGD300-SGD400)!! ARGH!!
sigh... tot Marpig can do wat Marpig likes finally... sigh... still got to wait a few more years ba...

To Kill a Mockingbird
So... Marpig finally understand wat the meaning is behind "To kill a Mockingbird". Basically, according to the novel, itz means "to kill innocence".
Read a review of it... gonna borrow it in the national lib when Marpig returns...
Today received 2 long-awaited emails from 2 dear frens... JM, who has been working in the Elderly Policy Department (hope Marpig didnt get it wrong) in Ministry of Marpig-don-noe (think education?), has been disappeared for quite some time... tot JM got job and bf 4got bout JG already :( hahahahaha okokok don tease u umk!!
PS, who really have been MIA for a month or so... oh well, hope she gets back on her feet soon and realise life is short and beautiful in itz own little ways...
btw, this sundae Marpig is gonna go for the London Bikeathon... kinda xxxcited cos never been to such big international event b4!! Biggest event Marpig had been to was the Singapore Army 1/2 Marathon with dad long long time ago... cyclist no. 3448... hmmm... not a very gd (auspicious) no. ... don even noe the roads here well... gonna be 13 miles distance which is about 20km... hmm... how long xactly it is... maybe 3/4 of breath of spore? hmm...
Anyway, shall take a few pictures (though not on the road while Marpig is cycling lah!!) and show to all of u after the event!! :)

Science and Natural History Museums and Imperial College All in a Day
Was quite a happy dae despite the occasion lonely travellerz inconvenience (like taking picutres with the head blocking everyth else) and feelings...
Embarked trip at 1pm and the 1st stop is Imperial College... erm... campus is big (though not as big as NUS or NTU) and can see laboratories on the streets (cos they are situated beside the streets on the basements...) suspect the location of labs are intentional; to let others see how scientists work(?)
Nth special... abit like NUS and abit like KCL... maybe all unis in london have similar structures? Though somehow therez an air of yaya papaya... hmm...
Then went to Sci Museum which is just beside... cool!! Hmm... Idea is pretty similar to Singapore Sci Centre... though each has their own excellent exhibits... but Singapore's one abit better in the display and interactive thingy... but the Sci Museum has got much more old displays which are much better than Singapore's... cant really say which is better... there are similarities... hmm... okoko, Sci Museum is better overall!!
IMAX are the same!! Really nice regardless in which country one see an IMAX movie!! For the 1st time, Marpig misses watching movies in cinema!! Went into the IMAX theater and was watching the adverts and felt like watching a movie in Singapore!! (They said the IMAX screen is big enough for 64 london cabs to park and has got more than 10 million tiny holes in the screen)
Paid 6 quid for the Deep Sea 3D narrated by Kate Winslet and Johnny Depp. Was going to pay 7.50 quid but man-over-counter said "U are a student right? So itz 6 pounds" :D well well well!! So, Marpig can still pull off as a student!! :D wat a cute guy!! (<-- weakness of females)
The Deep Sea 3D was really nice!! Oh gosh... felt like diving at tt instant!! Makes Marpig all the more want to dive!! Can see lotsa jelly fishies floating... and fishies fishies!! And saw Crown of Thorns (starfish tt eats corals) and Trident snail eating the Crown of Thorns... (a food chain!!) and also some other big fishies and small fishies!! Saw big monstrous jelly fishy eating alot of teeny weeny jelly fishies too!! But... hmm... will give the show a rating of 3 (or 3.5 max) out of 5.
B4 the show which was scheduled to start at 4.45pm, Marpig also popped by next door to the Natural History Museum... it was a let down... tot itz gonna be interesting but in the end didnt turn out to be tt interesting... (the dino section needs to pay bout 8 quid, so didnt go in)...
Anyway, wanted to get some soveniors but didnt cos there isnt soveniors with the name of the museum on it... those things can be bought anywhere else... so no pt... bought an Asterix comic book titled "Asterix and Son" instead... quite farny!! Was reading it in the tube on the way home :D
... Happy Birthday Mummy... somehow... todae feels like an outing with u... or Marpig just hope itz an outing with u... cant rem when was the last time u brought Marpig out to gai gai... but definitely rem u took Marpig to watch Beauty and the Beast in the cinema... (though u fell asleep :))...

Was reading Wikipedia and don noe how Marpig got to Muppet Wiki and landed upon Miss Piggy. Boy was it super funny!! muahahhaha was laughing all the way!! Really love Muppets cos itz as nonsensical as Marpig.

SQ is Going Downhill
Read tt SQ was selling some aircrafts (maybe cos they are old), selling the building near Paragon (right?)... Also read from http://www.worldairlineawards.com/ that SQ isnt the no. airline in any categories... (for consecutively a few years already). In fact, in some categories, Malaysian and Thai airlines surpassed SQ!! (Congrats to Malaysian and Thais!!)
Read some critical reviews on SQ and some were pretty often like crew are superficial, food is sub-std, etc which Marpig, being a Singaporean, also agrees.
Wonder watz wrong with SQ now... guess itz the result of being complacent? Think alot of us mustnt keep thinking tt things are always red and rosy...
Quite afraid tt the future Singapore will have too many graduates and no one willing to work in the sales or retails or service industries... every1 are just too concern with getting the best results, going into the best schools, getting the highest pay... pple will become too affluent... hmm... PMSed Marpig at work again!! :(

Being Difficult
Yes, certain traits do run in the family. Apparently, sis and father tend to get worked up easily and out of no reason. They don really understand the meaning of being calm, composed, patience and give & take. Well, put it this way, they know they should and could practise those with anyone but not to family members and relatives. SIGH.
They should noe that pple living with them will be having a hard time. They will have a hard time themselves as well as giving others a hard time. Marpig is tired of them... tired of talking nicely to them, tired of trying to strike any conversation with them. Watz with those happy family chit chatting times btw father and daughters or sisters in the TVs and books etc are never gonna happen to Marpig.
Been thinking, praying and dreaming of tt time to come but guessed itz time to burst tt bubble and stop pinning any hopes.
Think Marpig is like mom... cant tok, wont bother to tok. They don listen, don bother to tok. Keep quiet. Best. Afterall, since they cant listen but only tok, some1 in the family got to listen and take the shit. Like mom used to always advice Marpig when sis goes berserk and unreasonable, "ignore her, one hand will never clap"... sigh... been many many years... still the same old pple...
The only gd times Marpig enjoyed with dad is most probably when we played chess (chinese and international). Afterall, itz dad who taught Marpig chess. Oh, also times when we go spinning in the car or motorbike. Cos only during these times hez calm and patient. Atmosphere is soothing and not tensed.
*pondering* The only gd times when Marpig enjoyed being with sis is when we are IN THE CHURCH (cos even on the way we could quarrel) and occasionally when we go out eating dinner (then again, depending on her mood, she will start her temper for no reason) *pondering* think IN THE CHURCH is the only time then.
When Marpig was younger, always asked this question (asked mom too Marpig thinks) "Why cant sis be like any other sis? Why cant we tok like other sisters do? Why cant we share things? etc etc" Until now, Marpig still don get an answer to that question. Mom din provide an answer too... :(
Marpig could only guess... maybe shez just too practical... then again, we were never poor until we got to live off leaves which can make her into the her now... neither am she abused at all when young to make her into such an agressive character... she must have her share of falling in life that could have made her humble but not the overly proud and self-centered person she is now... really wondered watz wrong... maybe this is wat Marpig have mentioned in an earlier entry bout personalities... pple do change in 2 directions, better or worse... depends on how the individual reflect and view her/his experiences...
Marpig wasnt lamenting having to learn to give in to elder sis since young (remembered Marpig gave an apple or pear to sis when very young and asked mom why itz the opp to wat Marpig read in books), neither am Marpig lamenting that Marpig always use the things sis used/have got no use of them, Marpig wasnt lamenting about the countless times sis uses words of abuse on Marpig (intentionally or unintentionally though they still prick the heart)... Marpig is just very disappointed and sad that Marpig has got a sis whom Marpig cannot communicate at all like the other siblings do...
Of cos, Marpig noes she loves us all... then again... itz will be much much better if she doesnt have those temper and vices...
Maybe ttz y Marpig never really totally 100% believes in Him and refrain from embracing the religion? Cos sis is a very typical eg of someone who have tt religion, who reads the bible, who noes the 10 commendments but who isnt the better person as we all assume pple who go to church should be... sigh...
Because of egs like Marpigz sis and the many divided factions within His believers, Marpig just isnt convinced.
Guess Marpig is too tired and old to keep thinking sis or dad will become the ideal sis and dad in TVs or books (not even close to real life pple Marpig saw)... itz really one of those times when Marpig just got to let go and 4get it.
(If ever Marpig dies earlier than them in an accident or wat, please do inform them of this entry on Marpigz be1/2 all right? Otherwise, just let this entry rest in peace)

Marpigz Going Nuts

Two more daes and it will be Marpigz momz bdae... shall make her a card (those tt Marpig used to make for her when Marpig was in pri sch) using a few pages of the diary dedicated to her. Went to another different chruch todae... songs were more hip and hop... got a very active and concert kinda small live choir... very nice singers (the blacks) but Marpig just don like such hip and hop hymns in a catholic church... yes, itz Marpigz prob... maybe Marpigz too old-fashioned and solemn... :) Itz like spoon must go with fork, church must go with slow and solemn hymns, etc
Wasnt really paying attention todae during mass... reason being Marpig don noe wat the priest is toking bout during the homly... came up with Marpigz own version of understanding...
Also, was impressed by the choir though not the feel of it (except the last one, shall elaborate more later) and kept looking at the gal who sang those sidelines... erm... don noe wat these pple are called... should ask JM next time (JM used to be in the choir!! :D)

Was looking at her throughout the whole mass... find tt the choir sings well becos of her... Marpig means, with her contribution, the music is... diff... and nicer... more catchy...
Then... was thinking (too much, as usual) do most of us like to be the leaves among the flowers? Marpig would... of cos, would love to be just like the flowers, which are beautiful and eye-catching. But then, will also want to be humble and meek... like the leaves tt makes the flowers even more beautiful and eye-pleasing (green is gd for the eyes).

Seven Wonders of the World
Hmm... insomia again... so went surfing...
Surfed bout flying (when will Marpig ever give up?!?!?) To join the club, need to pay S$1.5K as 1-time entrance fee, S$1500 for membership, S$100/mth To learn and obtain a PPL (Pte Pilot Licence) need bout S$20K to S$30K... argh... Boh bian... see how things fare in the future... hahahaha (though abit strange... gallery photos shows only middle-aged guys... all the more Marpig 12 learn... for goodness sake!! not bcos of them lah!!)
Went "flying" using Google maps... saw Angkor Wat!! Wow~ Too bad, didnt get to see Borobudur. But saw Great all of China (not tt fantastic like Angkor) as well as Leaning Tower of Pisa (not clear enough)

Old Marpigz Tales
B4 embarking on todayz topic on Old Marpigz Tales (as opposed to Old Wives' Tales), Marpig got reminder to accept phd offer... sigh... see liao also sad... no $ how to accept... itz like putting a plate of nasi lemak in front of Marpig tt has Marpigz name on it but Marpig cannot take... sigh... oh well...
Coming back to some little weird thinkings of Marpig... not alot... cant rem all... so shall share 1 or 2 at the moment 1st...
1) Mentioned this b4, shall mention it again. The 5 sec rule. Food ttz dropped on the table can be quickly picked up, blow a bit and be eaten. Rationale is cos those microscopic bateria on the table will shun away from the dropped food like humans shunning away from a meteor. Then as curious as humans, those bacteria will be stunned and dare not go to the food (meteor) and will observe it. So b4 they noe watz happened, they wont touch the food so itz perfectly fine to pick up dropped food and eat it.
2) Don litter. Or, why we shouldnt litter. Very simple, all rubbish have their own frens and they wont want to be alone and be away from their frens. An example, throwing a bus ticket on the floor.
Poor ticket, if itz on the floor, it might be washed down the dark and wet drain (wrong kind of frens down there). Or, it might get bitten/eaten by dogs or cats (wrong kind of death for the ticket, it should be cremated in an incinerator with the rest of itz frens). Or, if it gets blown all over the place and gone to another new place far away from itz frens in the rubbish bins it will be crying.
Put it this way, imagine ourselves to be like these little litters. There have been poly students making short films/video clips (very gd stds!!) depicting the kind of scenario/life of a litter (or a coin) which Marpig have just described.
Knew itz abit silly... oh well...
Just had a cherry in the supermarket, Marpigz sis said "why are u still holding the seed? throw it on the floor. Otherwise u want to put it in the pocket meh?! *mocking tone*"
Marpig was thinking bout the poor little cherry seed in the hand... felt silly... but Marpig really put it in the pocket when Marpigz sis is not looking... thinking itz still better to find a proper basket/rubbish bin so tt tt little cherry seed can be with itz frens.

Patrotism
Heck. Marpig have spelt tt word wrongly. SO WAT?! tt doesnt mean Marpig is not a "nationalist" (Marpigz own meaning of the word is someone who love her/his country, not a communist)
Alot of tok has been going on for 40 yrs (ttz how old we are, we = Singaporeans) on whether Singaporeans love their own country, why Singaporeans don 12 stay at home, how some pple 4get their roots, etc...
So, who GENUINELY love Singapore? President? Ministers? Grassroot leaders? Police? Doctors? Laywers? Teachers? Someone with leadership power and status in society? The rich?
Wat bout those cleaners, workers (be it blue or white collar), hawkers, students, bizman who worked overseas, singaporeans who went abroad to live, pple who complain bout Singapore everydae, etc?
Marpig believes there are always black sheeps as well as fakes. The high and respected might not love Singapore as much as the poor and lowly. Likewise, the simple citizens who complained bout everyth might just be the one who will die for Singapore in times of war.
Itz a sensitive issue here we are toking bout... with many factors, excuses, circumstances, opinions, experiences, etc...
Marpig thinks... Singapore might not be the best... there are indeed flaws... but itz not all tt bad as compared to other countries. So, how do we noe if one really loves Singapore or how can we test ourselves?
1) Dont assume: We cant always assume ths... we cant assume someone don like Singapore just bcos they arent working/living in Singapore. Itz opportunities and circumstances, etc. Just like when u truly love a person whom cant be with u, u will still love her/him despite being in different places. Plus, give pple the benefit of doubt; we are not them, they are not us, so how can we think of them by the way we assume them to be?
2) Don just use the gap of the mouth: Yeh... some pple likes to express their love of the country vocally and especially the fakes (louder somemore!!) U noe, they keep toking and toking and toking but ttz bout it. They only tried to give others the gd impression but hey, their actions don tally with wat they said. Despicable and hypocritical.
3) Do u get offended when pple say bad things bout Singapore? Of cos, all of us should be humble (most Singaporeans, sadly, are not) and must be able to accept criticism and change for the better (which alot of us are still trying to master) Offended in tt sense means someone from the outside, who doesnt really noe the history, the circumstances, the culture, etc tt shape our society attacks us. One gd example is being described as a "tiny pimple on the face" by the Malaysian govt. Marpig is offended. But then, so wat, small pimple on the face does make a BIG difference and concealers are invented just for it.

Something Extremely Difficult
Was thinking wat to blog after tt most depressing entry... was doing literature review for thesis... realised Marpigz age IS CATCHING UP!! Lack of concentration, 101% lazy, hungry all the time, poor memory, shake leg do nth, eyebags and teabags (they ryhme), face too matured looking...
Hmm... Occasionally will vist CHIJ STCz webpage to check out if hockey is still no. 1 there (apparently and disappointing, itz not anymore) as well as who are the teachers and also whether if therez any hockey matches playing plus the STC alumni website which never seems to be up and operating...
Discovered (long time ago actually) tt alot of teachers tt once taught Marpig were no longer there... except teachers like Ms Chan Pui Chan, Mr Low, Mrs Kim Ong, Mrs Michelle Chua, Mrs Josephine Phang to name a few... teachers like Mrs Supiah and Mrs Thuraisingam were no longer there... :(
Got the urge to email Mr Low... visited him a couple of yrs ago... hahaha... most prob he still remembers the gal who draws excellently but writes horribly!! :P Played badminton with him too!! Nice guy!! Oh no, nice sir.
But website doenst give his email add (Marpig tot Marpig saw it somewhere!! hmf)
Then went to friendsters... strange, had been logging onto friendsters quite often these daes... (think nth better to do) and searching for long lost frens!! Found quite a few... a few uni frens (1st yr) and some primary sch frens too!!
Then, saw a friendster named Pearl Park wor!! Was so excited!! But the batch doenst belong to Marpigz... but the teacher who taught tt class used to teach Marpig too!! Saw the photo... arh~~~ really really really missed her... think she is the teacher that Marpig missed most and most wanted to see again...
Her namez Tan Poh Neo... used to teach Marpig social studies... :) lessons were pretty boring... cos she speaks quite monotonously... but shez a very very very fierce and no-nonsense teacher... so during her lessons can be quite stressful... like in an army like tt!! (Really!!)
But Marpig was dilligent!! Still rem Marpig did a social studies project bout the flags of countries in SEA (Still kept it!! Must laminate!!) And got A!! :D
Then, she was Marpigz badminton teacher too!! Still rem tt time, training (not confirm) was on friday afternoon... we had to gather together then collect coins to take no. 8 bus to Kim Seng community centre (PS, u noe right?)
Used to be collected by seniors but after seniors grad, Marpig was given the honorable job!! (In those daes, doing ths for teachers were highly regarded and repected ok!!)
Then she put Marpig to play with seniors and also personally trained Marpig!! Subsequently, when Marpig was in upper primary, all seniors left, so most of the time, Marpig played with her!! Wow!! Very nice game!! Shez really good!! And still rem once Marpig won and she laughed and said shez old liao :D
Then on 1 occasion, in sch, though it might sound silly, but she offered Marpig some of her mee rubus!!
Arh~~~ actually, have been looking for her since Marpig leave pri sch... but pri sch closed down... so went Pearl's Hill Pri to look for ex-form teacher to ask her on Miss Tanz whereabouts... but she don noe... :(
Since then, (from sec) been trying to find ways to locate her... arh... too bad didnt take pictures with her (why?!?!) really miss her... wonder how she is now... *counting* it has been 12 yrs!! Wow!! If she used to be 30+ then she would have been...40+ or even 50+!! Oh no... hope shez still alive... really want to meet her again!! Sharks... wonder how to find her
Still rem her hair used to be simple black long hair and she used a hairband... always wear pants... always don smile... (but when she did itz so pretty!!) hmm.... sounded abit like Marpig wor!! hahahahaha
sigh... MOE tried... they wont entertain Marpig most probably...

Think 1 of the ths to do when Marpig goes back is to visit the teachers... get their emails, treat them kopi or meals and keep in touch!! Maybe ttz y Marpig inspired to teach? (But not under MOE)

Her namez Tan Poh Neo... used to teach Marpig social studies... :) lessons were pretty boring... cos she speaks quite monotonously... but shez a very very very fierce and no-nonsense teacher... so during her lessons can be quite stressful... like in an army like tt!! (Really!!)
But Marpig was dilligent!! Still rem Marpig did a social studies project bout the flags of countries in SEA (Still kept it!! Must laminate!!) And got A!! :D
Then, she was Marpigz badminton teacher too!! Still rem tt time, training (not confirm) was on friday afternoon... we had to gather together then collect coins to take no. 8 bus to Kim Seng community centre (PS, u noe right?)
Used to be collected by seniors but after seniors grad, Marpig was given the honorable job!! (In those daes, doing ths for teachers were highly regarded and repected ok!!)
Then she put Marpig to play with seniors and also personally trained Marpig!! Subsequently, when Marpig was in upper primary, all seniors left, so most of the time, Marpig played with her!! Wow!! Very nice game!! Shez really good!! And still rem once Marpig won and she laughed and said shez old liao :D
Then on 1 occasion, in sch, though it might sound silly, but she offered Marpig some of her mee rubus!!
Arh~~~ actually, have been looking for her since Marpig leave pri sch... but pri sch closed down... so went Pearl's Hill Pri to look for ex-form teacher to ask her on Miss Tanz whereabouts... but she don noe... :(
Since then, (from sec) been trying to find ways to locate her... arh... too bad didnt take pictures with her (why?!?!) really miss her... wonder how she is now... *counting* it has been 12 yrs!! Wow!! If she used to be 30+ then she would have been...40+ or even 50+!! Oh no... hope shez still alive... really want to meet her again!! Sharks... wonder how to find her
Still rem her hair used to be simple black long hair and she used a hairband... always wear pants... always don smile... (but when she did itz so pretty!!) hmm.... sounded abit like Marpig wor!! hahahahaha
sigh... MOE tried... they wont entertain Marpig most probably...

Think 1 of the ths to do when Marpig goes back is to visit the teachers... get their emails, treat them kopi or meals and keep in touch!! Maybe ttz y Marpig inspired to teach? (But not under MOE)

Mummy, Thank You for Giving Me Life and for Everything...
Marpig loves watching oldies... those 1960s movies... or even earlier than 1960s... maybe 1930s? Where everyth was black and white and therez this very thin and not handsome actor (strangely, hez always the male lead)
Remembered Marpigz godmother used to watch alot of tv at night cos morning needed to take care of Marpig (Marpigz in kindergarden then) and also cooked dinner for the whole family... then Marpig always wanted to accompany her... in those times, HK serials were after 十点新闻.
Of course, in those times, on friday or saturday (cant rem tt clearly), therez 七彩荧幕1 and 2. The 1st movie showed at 1030pm then ends ard 1230am and then the 2nd one starts and end bout 315am. Normally the 2nd movie belonged to the oldies or some very backdated HK movies or those repeated ones.
Those were the 1st encounter with black and white chinese oldies movies.
Then, from Marpigz mom, Marpig were introduced to the oldies songs and movies as well as those actresses, actors and singers. Learned quite abit from Marpigz mom when she used to sing them everytime she does the chores... :) Still rem she would smile and be so happy when she sang them or when Marpig also sang with her :) ... ... ...
Particularly love this piece, "如果没有你"... ... ... why?
1) Marpigz mom sang this song in the companyz talentime competition and won 1st prize
2) Marpigz mom used to use to song on herself and on Marpig... u noe... both ways...
3) Marpigz mom loves this song very much
4) Itz a very appropriate song to describe how Marpig feels bout losing her
Going back to oldies movies, Marpigz mom also love oldies... everytime, if therez an old movie showing, she would stay up and watch it and Marpig would accomapany her. Although the movies were so old, they were actually very nice!!
Marpigz would ask alot of questions and Marpigz mom would tell Marpig who was who in the movie... seen alot of very old actresses and actors when they were young!! And Marpigz mom especially likes the movie, "空中小姐". (Marpig actually bought the VCD)
She also related her childhood and teenage experience... like in her time, pple would gather together in front of a public screen, sitting on benches and watching the movies... then bout the cost of watching movies... she even mentioned tt by watching the oldies then made her feel like shez 16... :) ... ...
Then, when Marpigz mom got cancer... she became so tired but had difficulty in getting peaceful sleep... cos she would be in pain... or most probably... shez afraid of sleeping... afraid tt she might not wake up (?)... ... ... *tearing*
tt time, Marpig slept late everynight... playing games or studying... cant rem... but everytime when Marpig saw oldies showing on the tv, Marpig would wake her up and tell her the moviez title... sometimes she would watch it, sometimes she would not, sometimes she would be upset tt Marpig woke her up (cos itz really diff for her to fall asleep)...
As time goes by... Marpig no longer woke her when Marpig saw her sleeping so soundly on the bed... becos Marpig noes how diff it was for her to fall asleep... how diff it was for her to be at peace... the pain and suffering she had gone thru from those chemo, injections, etc... it would be cruel to wake her up no matter how much Marpig noes she loves watching the movies... ... *crying*
... sigh ... everytime Marpig saw her sleeping soundly, Marpig would stare at her 1st... looking at her chest to see if shez breathing... then Marpig would say a little prayer for her while staring at her face... ... ... then, alone, Marpig would watch the oldies alone... ... ... maybe Marpig could then tell her the story the next dae... ... ...

After she passed away... for some time... the oldies were still showing in the late nights... everytime Marpig sits in front of the tv, watching the oldies... Marpig would rem those times... would turn ard to look at the empty sofa where she used to sit and watch the movie... would then cry while watching the movie... though not noeing wat the story was about... mind only flashes those times when shez still ard... ... ...
Don noe since when... Marpig started to not watch tv so often anymore... until now... Marpig could do without a tv... don noe since when... Marpig started to use the laptop more and more often... everytime eating meals alone, would bring the food into the room and use the laptop... to watch VCDs or surfing...
It has become a (bad) habit now... sigh...
Now, everytime Marpig sees oldies... like the VCDs, the posters, etc, will definitely think of her... will start to miss her... used to think of buying her VCDs of those oldies... but itz all too late... sigh... (but will still collect them and watch it alone)

Maybe this is just Marpig... all these shall 4ever remain in Marpigz mind... they shall 4ever be smth Marpig is guilty of, is regretful of, is fond of, is missing, everyth...

Chinese Buffet at 新天地
Went chinese buffet todae after mass with sis and BIL. :D Was really a happy dae since Marpig came london cos itz Marpigz bdae (duh) but mostly cos todae felt like a nice outing :) Weather is still darn hot and dry (Marpigz roasted)...
Anyway, for 2 weeks, Marpig had buffet trice (at same place near church)!! ARGH!! *barrel tummy rubbing on the floor whenever Marpig trots* But chinese buffet todae was diff!! Much nicer with more variety and things Marpig loves like mussels!! They also have Singapore/Malaysian style fruits such as longans and deserts like ginger and sweet potatoes soup!! (but should add more ginger!!)
But of cos, itz much more expensive at bout 12 quid per pax. And, need to travel from zone 3 on the east to zone 4 on the west of london!! *snorts* But the food were fantastic!! Especially the chicken with woodears!! Tasted so much like homecooked one!! Got curry chicken, got crabs somemore!!!!!!!! *slurp* Marpig had 3 (or 4?) helpings!! Think the last helpings are just a mini 蛋嗒, 5 longans and 2 mini choc-filled crepe bout the size of a rubber. Other than that last helpings, Marpig also ate like fried kway diao, fried rice, mussels (for all other helpings), long beans, aubergines (brinjals), erm... *recalling*, 糯米鸡, diff types of chickens ( w curry, w woodears, w don-noe-wat)... raw salmon (therez sushi too!!) cant rem all... but... hmm... now tt Marpig recalls the food tt Marpig consume... tsk. Should have eaten more!!
But then again, at tt point in time, Marpig almost cant breathe!! So, there!!
After buffet, walked ard the shopping centre tt buffet is at. WOW!! VERY NICE!! Felt just like in Singapore!! Cos therez a food court tt so resembles the one at Woodlands!! And this food court sells authentic Singaporean/Malaysian food court fares!! OMG OMG OMG!! Felt really excited!!
Then... actually... for a split sec, the food court reminds Marpig of the one in Cambodia!! (Can rem Ding?!) Then therez also this supermarket tt sells alot of things we see in normal Singapore supermarkets!! And alot of Japanese thingy!! (Like those in orchard and Meidiya!!) Also, they sells alot of things tt are "Produit of Singapour" hahahhahaha Brought 3 bottles of Pokka Oolong Tea (Marpigz fav too!!) ttz Product of Singapore!! OOOOO~~~!!
Then, even more authentic is the fact tt the supermarket and somewhere outside the place sell DURIANS!! BUT!! One D24 durian cost 24 quid!! ttz 24 x 3 = SGD 72!! Can choke on the durian man!! Or maybe must crush the seeds and grind the shell and swallow them as well!! Every thorn counts!! The durian buffet somewhere outside cost 18 quid!! ttz 18 x 3 = SGD 54!! (Kill me)... cant imagine in Singapore, where durians tt are damn nice (xo flavour, bitter sweet flavour, etc) cost as low as 50cents or SGD 10 for 5 durians cost a bomb here!! Guess durians are the only fruit tt can fetch such a ridiculous price after those funny-shaped watermelons in Japan... Anyway, herez some interesting pics!!

Food Bloggie
Hasnt been blogging on food... (so unusual of Marpig) so here goes!!
1st of all, Beenie will love this!! Mac here can mix and match the kind of sides as well as drinks (w/o additional charges)
Went to Kew Gardens as well... a long distance... weather is so menacing hot (Marpigz having headache... (>_<) ) and a Brit once told Marpig smth like "if u haven been to Kew Gardens, u haven been to London"... in the end... Marpig got a bad and terrible headache and Kew Gardens is a let down... Itz a huge plot of land... Kew Palace looks just like any Victorian House... a Pagoda stands in the garden as well but not awe looking... then a so-called Japanese don-noe-wat is just a little 亭子 in Japanese style and a few bonsai... There isnt alot of flowers though there are a rose garden but then, anywhere in London we get to see roses too... then got waterlilies pond but don see any waterlilies... They do have a Temperate House tt stores each of a kind of tropical species like palm trees, Giant Bamboo, Tumeric, Cocao, Hibiscus, etc... but then again... itz nth so special cos Marpig get to see them (or even more) every sec in Singapore... plus, Singapore has got much more variety and we do have Orchids!! But credit for Kew Gardens to plant the tropical trees... gd effort and upkeep!! Overall, Hyde Park or Kensington Park are more worth it to go to rather than Kew Gardens... Anyway, sis brought Marpig to a Crepe cafe (reminds Marpig of Prata Shop at Fong Seng behind NUS) at South Kensignton... bought a mushroom, cheese and garlic crepe... wah... VERY NICE (& extremely fattening)!!
1st mouthful was piping hot and cheese melting and ooooooo~~~ savory etc... yum yum
2nd mouthful was wah~~~ cheese and mushrooms!! yum yum yum
3rd mouthful was crispy crepe at the ends and soft core *slurp*
Subsequently... marginal utility starts to drop until Marpig is fulled up after eating 1/2 the crepe... :P
