CNY... Beenie asked Marpig to take sm pictures of London's CNY... no fun... nth really... Singaporez the best... most authentic Chinatown of the world... the lion dance here... OMG... basically, the lion is swaying here & there like fainting... drums also sounded funny... *shake head* no stds... oh well... pictures are pple looking at lion dance... *yawn*
Brussels Sprouts and Durians selling at 5.20 quid each!! TTz SGD16!! OMG. Marpig could get a few of those at SGD10, eat until cannot finish!!

B4 Marpig starts crapping, just received a call from Marpigz dad...
Just like wat Marpigz intuition had guessed correctly, Marpigz dad really IS worried bout Marpigz PhD and job search... asked Marpigz to seek advice and help from lecturers... Then complained abit bout him cannot sleep at night and woke up very early... SIGH... realised smth (again)
Parents constantly worry bout their children. When the children are old enough, they start to become like their parents in all ways... one example is to worry bout their own parents... *heartache*
Maybe itz CNY... maybe have been running away from reality for many years... still miss steamboat with family at table when young... with tv siwtched on, with crowds just downstairs... SIGH...

Realised haven been blogging for quite a while for Marpigz stds... (Once again, wherez Dingko Nut?! :S)
Anyway, been feeling stressed up since Xmas and New Year... exams, 2nd sem, PhD application, job search plus being rubbish to Marpigz dad and missing home more & more...
But sort of died down...exams over, in the midst of applying PhDs and jobs... but still wols, bought a photography book and smth nice for Marpigz dad as well as writing a cheapo letter (but drawn 2 oranges and crackers and 春联) to make up for Marpigz rubbishness... hope he likes them and understand Marpigz behaviour...
Been missing home terribly... maybe because of stress ttz y yearn for comfort zone, maybe cos of protests from taste buds (together with PSz constant tempting and listing of delicacies back at home! SLURP!)... plus, really miss exercising... climbing, badm, tennis, swimming, night cycling, camping, diving... SIGH... plus... FIRST TIME in Marpigz entire life not being in the middle of big hooha for CNY... oh man... how depressing... no steamboat...
But was really happy tt PS came to London! Especially when Marpig is almost at the brink of giving up. Think she noes it ba... :)) Thank you so much! (eh, keep those 2 books side by side ok!)
Been obssessed with Kinder Surprise Eggies... guess cos of stress & facing too much reality which is not Marpigz natural forte... really am happy just to think of watz for bf, lunch, dinner and inside the Kinder Surprise Eggie!!
By the way, been late while meeting up with PS over these 2 daes... ahhaha was late in Singapore, came to London, still late!! But blah blah blah blah (xxxcuses) Then Marpigz sis invited her over for curry dinner... hmm... PS was really really really afraid of Marpigz sis!! (cant blame her for tt!) But guess wat, they tok like old frens, laugh like hyenas (Marpig included though) and Marpig was feeling so 冤枉 of being in JC... (itz a secret!! heheheh)
Applied for PhD in King's... hopefully will be able to get it... oh well... gonna send in application to a company by this week and this wkend needs to apply to other universities... but am really 安慰 tt Marpigz previous boss still 看得起 Marpigz and explicitly hinted to Marpig tt Marpig can go back to work!! But really, if things arent changing, no point going back where Marpigz opinions and views get swept under the carpet....
Marpig really want to go home quickly... camping, exercising, jio pple go sunny beaches with clear blue sea and snorkeling (if not diving) and feeding and swimming among fishies!! Over here, Marpig isnt Marpig...

Finally "saw" Dingko Nut online... for a very brief time though... cos shez been MIA and Marpig really misses her crappiness and comments! But glad she received Marpigz little gift and card and is alive and roasting! (Dingko Nut mah... so must roast, not kick!)
Very MM... Dr George is being very kind and Marpig really hopes to be his student... but... hez got no funding so even though hez more than willing to take Marpig as his PhD student, Marpig got to self-fund... 10,000 pounds per yr for 3 yrs... n ttz only for tuition fees... SIGH...
Been very disappointed... most other PhD studentships for for UK/EU citizens... oh well...
Guess Marpigz dream is abit fuzzy now... SIGH... gonna apply for jobs then...

Been feeling very restless... cant switch to study mode... at night cant get to sleep... feel boh boh watching VCDs... don noe watz wrong...
Had 1st lecture of the sem... very impressed by female lecturer... smore shez teaching a subject tt is not ez in engineering... fluids... wow... when/will Marpig ever have the chance of inspiring younger generations? SIGH...
Very happy... was sniffing new books... wanted to start reading bedtime stories again since no mood to study... momentum is not there... Flipped open a present from a crazy person aka Mimi Tee to another crazy person aka Marpig :P titled The Chronicles of Narnia!! (sounds like sm1z name though... heheheh) Saw the 1st page... suddenly got this warm feeling like Marpig reading Enid Blytonz books when Marpig WAS very young... 舍不得 read... so most prob will put into bag and carry/read it on the tube... :))

Still In Love With Scuba Diving
Been reading up alot on Scuba Diving and marine life... wow~~~
Marpig looks crazy sexy cool in wet/dry suits! :P
Think itz cos Marpig belongs to a water sign ttz why love water sports so much... anyth to do with water...
Gonna save up and buy own diving gears next time... then will start diving ard... got a mask & snorkle... next immediate things to acquire will be Mares boots (with soles), fins (Mares Volo Power Fins, open-heeled) and Mares Tropic drysuit! heheheheh these things can easily cost SGD400... wow... BCD and regulator & the rest of the barang barang can wait... cos those will cost around 1000 or less... (hopefully)... expensive hobby...
TT aside, just now Marpig kana scolded by Marpigz sis again... for buying Kinder Surprise Eggs... :'( Watz wrong with buying smth tt Marpig likes? Itz Marpigz hobby... plus therez toys inside (Little Chicken) and the choc egg can be eaten... oh well... diff pple have diff hobbies and idiosyncrasies... sm pple simply adore (or even worship) rubies and diamonds (elementally, there are just stones and carbon in another form... watz the big deal?!) while others prefer collecting sea shells, comic books, coins, stamps, figurines... guess all of us need to understand tt diff pple places diff value on certain things...

After exams went home, Marpigz dad bought bread... got char siew bao, etc and a buo luo bao (:D)) Marpigz fav wor... hmm... *wondering*
Todaez paper was ok... but do until Marpigz neck ache and headache! Kao. Then got one question... hmm... 14 marks for tt part... but damn simple and short... at 1st was stumped... so left 2 blank pages for it and go on to the rest... suppose to ans 4 out of 6... tt question Marpig do it last...
Towards the last 20 mins, Marpig was still looking at the 14-marks question in utter disbelieve... searching and sniffing for trickery within... in then end, with only 15 mins left on the clock, Marpigz just whack! Used only 0.5 of the 2 blank pages... should be correct... cos after exams Marpig discussed with Guru and he did the same so! :D)
Hopefully can get A overall... *whew*

Is It Wrong/Right? How Does the Scale Balances Itself?
PS reminded and tok sense into Marpig...
Recalling... Marpig really used to be wearing the heart on the sleeves... did so many things for Marpigz dad... but smhow, Marpig did changed... cant really pin-point why but upon reflection, Marpig is getting less patient, hiding emotions from outsiders more skillfully, looking at things now by feeling them less... getting more n more independent, even to the extent of being spending 80% of the time in solitude in Cosy Barn, paying more attention to scoring high marks/grades...
Sounds like Marpig has turned into a monster... even Marpig shudders at the tot...
If itz not for PS, Marpig would not have realised it and may not even put a timely stop to these!
Of course, Marpig is not getting more money-minded here but getting more ambitious, more impatient as to Marpigz success in life...
(Note: How many pple can reflect their mistakes and admit it)
But then again, sm pple turn bad because of their original gd intentions tt went overboard...
1) Worried bout Marpigz dad... Marpigz dad retired, afraid he might have lost an aim in life so really hope he can think it thru & spend his time meaningfully rather than bumping and fooling ard, otherwise brainz inactivity is not gd for him...
2) Marpigz silliest mistake is not putting in effort in undergrad studies... it will 4ever be a stain... Marpig wants to prove herself, wants to correct this mistake... wants to do well in everyth...
3) Been very independent all these formative years... even more so now... too much smtimes... no wonder pple who noe Marpig always think Marpig is independent and appear dao! ahahaha
4) Very insecure about the future... believe it or not, Marpigz not very happy with current situation... still studying at 24yrs old! (Going onto 25!) Although pple smtimes tell Marpig how fortunate it is to be taking MSc, staying in London, etc... pple out there... itz not really tt enjoyable... ttz y been worrying bout studies as well as phd & job seeking...
5) Want to protect Marpig from being used/cheated by new pple whom Marpig met in a foreign country... especially Marpigz sis been telling Marpig how distrustful pple can be
6) Fuel by the fact tt Marpigz dad broke the trust tt Marpig had for him in high regard... kinda like a 心结 now... just cant accept it
Smth ttz is broken takes smtime & effort to restore... Especially if tt scar is left by pple u love/respect

*Smile* Itz gd to be "hit" by gd frens from time to time! Cos then we know wat is wrong and when we have to reflect and where we can change for the better :)) Itz like an angel who comes down to prevent a bad egg from developing! :P

A lifetime sport tt Marpig hopes to master...
Been dreaming of an underwater wedding ceremony... OHHH~ so lomantic!!
It is the beauty, mystery and vast variety of lives underwater tt attract Marpig...
Killing of sharks --> More groupers --> Less parrotfishy --> More algae on coral reefs --> Less coral reefs...
Groupers... can grow very large and can swallow in whole, a scuba diver! Marpigz most dislike fish of all. Didnt meet one when Marpig went diving (luckily!) but met a few in Underwater World in Sentosa... Had nightmare at night after seeing them...chasing Marpig underwater in the DARK & DEEP OCEAN! ...Oh man... THOSE HUGE, LARGE MOUTH, BIG BUMP ON HEAD, BIG MONSTROUS EYES, THICK LIPS, GLOOMY BLUE TINT, SLOW MOVING... EEEW!
Crown-of-Thorns... a type of huge star fish with lotsa spikes... creep along seabed eating coral reefs... poisonous stings... FLEE if u see one... Marpig saw them b4... woooo~
Parrotfishy... Lovable fishy! Colourful too! Cute as well cos their mouth is like a bird and seem to be smiling 4ever. Pretty fast swimmers too! As though they are flying! *Whoosh!*
Hammerhead sharks... *Put both fists at each side of the head*
Sea Urchins... Can be tiny and can be fried together with rice (Marpig ate Urchin fried rice b4 in HK 西贡) or as large as an underwater BOULDER (not stone hor) Spikes can be retracted and they DO move along but very slowly... don ever get poke by them...
Sea cucumbers... Delicacy with mushrooms and 发菜 plus 木耳! Underwater, they can look like severed p***ses or colourful cute creatures! Feels leather-like/rubbery
Nudibranch... Cute thingy... Really cute thingy
Giant Clams... Another of Marpigz fav! Cute, cos they reminds Marpig of nice voluputous lips good for kissing! heheheh. Itz pretty farny the way they can sense u b4 u even touch them! Colourful as well! Smaller ones are tasty! hiakhiakhiak!
Clownfishy... Another of Marpigz fav! Interesting th bout them is tt they are born sexually immature. Then either they remain sexually immature or become male or become male then female. Theirs is an eg. of feminism. In a successful pair, the male will exhibit submissive behavior. Usually, this behavior entails the more aggressive female darting at the male, and the male turning sideways and quivering. (HAW HAW HAW!)

Chaos at Examination Hall!!
Marpig todae had the 1st paper since 2 yrs ago... below summarises the differences and similarities btw exams in London and Singapore:
1) Examination halls need to be rented and is not at the campus itself
2) Gd thing of having exams at Suntec is tt the space is ample and if students are early, they have places to sit n wait n revise more while in London, the halls only has enough space for examination only... if students are early, they have to stay out in the freezing cold n stand ard or lean against some trees or walls...
3) Deposit of belongings, entry to seats are orderly and efficient in Suntec. Start and end as planned. In London, kao. itz ABSOLUTE CHAOS. Once the door to the hall is opened, ALL students rushed in like vacuum-packed sardines. Totally no space left for any lamp posts or sauces (cos vacuum-packed sardines mah).
4) There are only 3 cubicles in the toilets in Suntec but there is a whole dressing room with (min) 13 cubicles in the examination hall where Marpig took her paper. NOTE: With enough toilet paper somemore. Good.
5) Marking scheme in NUS is such tt there isnt any cut-off points for A,B,C or D (though we know tt F means <50).>90 = A, >80 = B and >70 = C or some other crap range. Flawed system as this will only encourage rat race and competition and student will no longer enjoy the process of studying. Over in UK, there are clear and known cut-off points. >70 = A etc etc (mind u, itz not easy getting As if no effort is made). System encourages student to study to his/her best of ability. But the Singapore way of marking scheme allows students to have excuses if they didnt get an A & got a B instead! :p
6) (This one is damn "good") There isnt ANY WARNINGS towards the end of the paper. No reminder like "Please be reminded that you only have 15/5 mins left" in London... Marpig was (as usual) writing like 鬼手 and then the lady just said "times' up, pens down"... almost shocked Marpig till her pants down...
Was really happy though, cos although 12 marks confirm gone cos cant fin writing, Marpig may still be able to get A if nth else go terribly wrong! *Praying*

Marpigz sis bought a PS2 game titled (Marpig think) "Hello Kitty Roller Skates" erm... tittlez definitely not tt but close cos game was Hello Kitty themed and she wears roller skates to fight bad guys who invaded Hello Kitty Land!
Discovered lotsa things Marpig didnt noe till now! (Bet not alot of Marpigz frens know it too!) They are:
1) Hello Kittyz grandpa is called Anthony
2) Hello Kittyz grandma is called Margaret
3) Hello Kittyz mom is called Mary and her apply pie is famous in Hello Kitty Land
4) Hello Kittyz papa is called George (!)
5) Hello Kittyz twin sister is called Mimmy. Her ribbon is on the right side while Hello Kittyz ribbon is on the left
6) Keroppi has a brother called Koroppi, 2 sisters called Pikki and Picky. Dad is Keroppa, mom is Keroma, grandpa is Kerojee, grandma is kerobah. All live in Donut Pond
7) Lala is the name of the female Twin Star.
8) Marpigz fav character is Purin the Pudding Dog! JM, pay attention to this! He is a golden retriever! hahahahaha. Just like Marpig, he likes to drink milk, eat soft stuff like pudding, likes to sleep and play with frens. Anyone who goes supermarket next time, look more closely at the Japanese caramel custard pudding...
9) My Melody~! *Marpigz gesturing* (sm frens might have seen Marpigz gesture when Marpig say My Melody) Anyway, itz a pure white rabbit & she has a brother called Rhythm
10) Badtz Maru IS a Penguin. Stop wondering whether he is a crow or bird or chick. His face suggests "dao-ness", not sad or angry or wat. Cos penguin mah, everyth high class (hint: tuxedo).
Marpig was fascinated by these info as well as wah-ing about the cute graphics throughout. hahahahahaha

Marpigz 1st Pig
Childhood memory...
Was hospitalised for the 1st time when Marpig is kindergarden or Pri 1/2... (cant rem)... was on drip for the 1st time... food poisoning (so young already a glutton!) think ate Char Kway Tiao + Mango or Char Kway Tiao + Liulian... hmmm cant rem either...
Was Xmas then... spent Xmas in childrenz ward... had a present (cos all children have one) and Marpig received Marpigz 1st piggie softtoy! (still intact and well-grooomed!) Itz the start of a lifetime love for piggies-themed things... coupled with the fact tt Marpigz name has close affinity to 猪...
Not only tt, Marpigz habits and personalities pretty much are like piggies... likes to be clean, clever (:p), loving, kind, glutton...
Must reinforce again that pigs are cleverer than dogs and are second to dolphins, they like to be clean and are clever. Reason why they roll in mud is to cool themselves (pigs have no sweat glands, contradicting the notion "only pigs sweat" & ttz y their ears are red when they are hot) as well as to prevent flies from irritating them since poor piggies cant scratch their back with their trotters...
But itz true pigs CAN BE lazy... (they can be hard working too, like little pig who built a brick house) & of cos, they eat alot... anything in fact...
They are kind and naive (not stupid)... eg, Mcdull... really... tt time was watching Mcdull with PS and was thinking, hey, Marpig used to be like tt, naive, kind and really gives $ to beggers (even though Marpig noe they might be cheats) cos Marpig believes 宁可人负我莫我负人...
Hopes to go Cambodia next time to visit those poor children who are exploited... maybe could treat them to a meal... :))

Miyazaki!)...then watched The Island in KL with Dingko Nut (where are u?!?) & SS, Charlie & the Choc Factory with Beenie, Madagascar with Uni frens...
Watched Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire (pirate DVD) in Unclez hse, Bride & Prejudice (Bollywood version of Pride & Prejudice... felt like Marpigz eating Tandori while watching the movie cos itz simply too Bollywood) on TV in Unclez hse as well...

Bought pencil cases for Marpigz dad... todae dad bought a comic book "Beano" (not really Marpigz fav...prefer Eric the Banana Man or Dandy, but Beano is just as fine!) and gave to Marpig...
Don really noe if itz really for Marpig cos Marpigz dad was mumbling and asking "Was it Marpig or Marpigz sis who likes this..." So Marpig told Marpigz dad tt Marpigz sis never like comics at all (except 老夫子 cos the squares are numbered hahahaha) so Marpigz dad gave Marpig the book!

HAPPY 2006 EVERYONE!! May ALL (or MOST) of our wishes come true!!
Heard tt itz raining everydae in Singapore...well, itz raining in London as well... oooo~! COLD.
Anyway, there isnt much to blog bout these few daes except Marpig is yearning more and more bout camping, diving, exercising, adventures etc. Also, marpig tend to keep fretting about future... exams, phd, job, career, money... engr job mkt in Singapore too stiffled...do not have much tt Marpig want to do... SIGH... hope 2006 will be a gd year...
