Just had dinner with 10 other Polish people (Marpig am the only chinese) in a chinese restaurant
Why have chinese dinner with a group of Polish pple? Well, a colleague of Marpigz from Poland invited Marpig to join them for dinner. He always asked Marpig to go out but Marpig always turn him down since she doesnt really want to go out during the precious weekend as she simply likes nuaing in cosy barn :P
But, this time, he said therez gonna be alot of pple going and all of them are his frens from Poland. Strange as it was, Marpig actually agreed!! Reasons were mainly bcos Marpig had the urge to travel and since she cant at the moment, she needed to get out. Another was bcos Marpig felt she keep turning him down so this time, just be nicer rather than being a hard shell. Also, Marpig thought, hey, alot of Polish pple, a great way to understand their culture!! Finally, Marpig got to noe tt they wanted to try really nice chinese food but have no idea how to order and hence, Marpig felt obliged to help them... (yes, chinese restaurants here do practise diff stds for ang mohs)
And so, Marpig went for the dinner with Polish pple whom she did not noe at all xcept tt colleague of herz. Brave? Well, not tt Marpig am a social animal, but more of her curiosity and interest in mixing with new pple
The Polish pple were really frenly and nice. Erm... how to describe... they are diff from the English... could it be tt they don speak fluent English nor uses the English humour which Marpig smtimes cannot catch?
But 1 th for sure, they are like the English; they simply love chinese food!! One of them told Marpig tt itz the best chinese dinner she had!!
They also told Marpig all bout their country. Their Tatry (a mountain in Poland) which looks almost like the Alps, the winter temperature tt varies btw -15 to -25degC, snowflakes with diff "structures" aka patterns and never the same, skiing (and how to ski) in Poland, Polish cuisine, etc. It was really nice to listen to them!!
Marpig also told them bout the diff btw PRCs and chinese pple from HK, Singapore, etc. In fact, Marpig gave a little bit of history lesson to lady on the right bout HK as she (like many others) do not noe tt HK was once a British colony, was loaned to the UK, returned to China in 1997
She also mentioned bout having a fren in Singapore & tt she would like to go visit but am afraid the air tic are too expensive. Once again, Marpig told her bout SQ promo flights which is less than wat she thought :)
Was a good dinner afterall & a couple even invited Marpig to go Bath to visit them :)
Oh, some information, English are really hypocritical bcos they do discriminate and/or are racist. In the UK, some English called pple from Poland, Poles, which is not a gd th; like referring pple from Pakistan as Paki. Much like Msian who went to Singapore to work, the Polish are also being looked down by some English... maybe bcos they are from Eastern Europe (poorer than their Western neighbours) sigh...
Why are Eastern Europe poorer than Western Europe? It would be bcos most countries in Eastern Europe were once under the Soviet Union, which was a communist country...
Finally, yes, Polish pple are very good, xcellent to be xact, drinkers. They drink Vodka like water and to keep themselves warm while skiing, they carry with them, small bottles of alcohol tt is 70% alcohol & do ski even when drunk!! Or so say the lady sitting on Marpig right... :D

My Lovely Honey~
Finally, am drinking the honey tt Marpig bought in Korea for the 1st time. Was all right though will make it a point to drink it more often, tog with Marpigz daily doses of white tea
Was wondering watz so good bout honey and itz benefits to health so went reading bout it. Well, much like birdz nest (although better than birdz nest) honey didnt really have alot of health benefits BUT!! itz a very good antiseptic "gel"
And, instead of dwelling more into the wonders of honey, Marpig actually read more into honey bees!!
Know tt most pple are too "busy" to read bout nature nor even to look it up, hence, Marpig shall put up a summary of honey bees (albeit noeing pple are too "busy" to read bloggie anyw)
And so, therez 3 types of bees in a hive; the queen bee, drone bees and worker bees. The 1st & last need no xplanation. Drone bees (bout 10+ or so) basically are to mate with the queen bee (wow!! multiple partners!!)
This formidable queen bee will mate with all these drone bees and store their sperms in wat is called her spermatheca. Don ask wat happened to the drone bees cos Marpig noe naught. And, depending on the queen beez mood (or other thingy) she selectively choose to fertilize or not an egg while it travels in her oviduct
Male bees are from unfertilized eggs while female bees are from fertilized eggs. The queen bee actually have 102% say in whether she wants "gals" or "boys"!!
Other interesting (and kinda survival of the fittest) is tt virgin queen bees, after they are hatched will need to hunt and kill other virgin queen bees, even if they are still in a pupa stage. Totally proved the saying, 一山不能藏二虎!!
In addition, when a queen bee becomes old and a new queen bee is to replace her, the worker bees will "ball" her. "Balling" means to cramp all around the old queen bee and to kill her by overheating her... wat a "passionate" way to kill the queen bee...

All of Us (Can) Look Alike & Other "Thought Blasts"
Bloggie entries or more like "thought blasts" (a term created to refer to the millions of funny, idle thoughts which popped into Marpigz mind constantly) are accumulating like the age of Marpig... (wat an analogy!!) Hence, Marpig need to rant on bout the small blasts quickly so tt she can move on to finish her Italy trip last yr May (!!) as well as other travelling journals!! Hello!!
1st, is it true tt all of us CAN look alike? Pple do ask the question bout reincarnation. If we do get reincarnated, will we still look the same? If we do, maybe therez a "Hitler" smwhere in the world... hmm...
Pple also ask the question bout love. Do we love a personz looks or her/his personalities? If one was to keep her/his personalities for which they are loved but changed their looks, will others still love them?
Pple with Down's Syndrome all look so much alike (like twins!!) regardless of race, nationalities, etc. Does it then means, if therez a defect in a specific gene (similar to tt which resulted in Down's Syndrome), pple will and can look alike? Does no1 ever give this theory a thought?
If this is truly the case, then it is highly possible to create humans who are alike without having to clone them or go through lengthy selective breeding (like Hitler who want to create an Aryan race). Just need to alter tt particular "physical look" gene!! Wow... suddenly Marpig speaks like an evil scientist!!
The next thought blast is more like an information. Marpig likes collecting smth else apart from toys and comic books. While she travels, she wil send postcards to frens & sis as well as collecting sm really nice postcards for herself. The 1st postcards were actually paper advertisements from merchants of goods in GB (Great Britain) sent to customers. ylwols, they evolved over 160 yrs into the photo postcards now. And collecting postcards is called Deltiology!!
According to Wiki, Deltiology is the worldz 3rd largest hobby, after stamp collecting and (oddly enough) money collecting!!
Next pcs of information (could be a lolly-making proposal!!) is to have edible teaspoon!! Ah~ Marpig drinks tea in office & have a well-known habit of how her tea is to be made!! Her tea wil be one with the teabag left in & with a teaspoon. Reason being she likes strong tea. If only the teaspoon is edible like waffle or smth tt doesnt go while in the tea, Marpig could munch it up after finishing her tea!! Dont have to wash & itz always good to have a biscuit with tea!! ... ... hmmm...

Against Marpigz Fear of Heights: Day 2
Either Marpig am too busy with work or she is back to her wols mo life in the freezing cold UK. With the weather and temperature lingering around -2 to 5 degC everydae, Marpig, although not cold blooded, tends to switch btw hibernating at home or working like mad in the office
Anyw, have been hearing bad news since the new yr starts and no, letz talk bout scaling Snowdon & many other totally outdated Italy, Amsterdam, Prague and Korea bloggie entries!! This entry shall bring every1 up to Snowdon!! (refer to 22nd Nov 2008 for the 1st part!!) Brace yourself for a long entry!! (who says climbing mountains are easy?! Itz a long and tedious process!!)
From the map above, one could see tt therez more than 1 track to go up Snowdon. In fact, there are 6 (or even more) and herez a little bit of smth bout each track:
1) The Llanberis Track (Marpig descended via this track)
Supposedly to be the easiest track since itz incline is steady and not steep. But it is also the longest track. Although itz incline is not steep, there are still fatal accidents
2) The Pyg (Pig) Track (Marpig joined this track after ascending a steep rocky ascent via the Miners Track, see below)
No1 noes how the name came by although it mayb bcos of Bwlch y Moch (Pigs' Pass) over which the track passes. Anyw, itz a popular track and really gives climbers good mountain xperience!! Nice panoramic views!! More bout the views later!! Dont be taken in by the name assuming the word "Pig" means easy... heu!! itz not!!
3) The Miners Track (Marpig started with this track)
This is the most popular track up Snowdon, since it has flat sections (itz only the beginning!!) and with great views!! This track allows one to pass Llyn Llydaw (a small lake) as well as ruins of mine workings (photo of it later), around rocky cliff edge, Glaslyn (blue lake) b4 joining the Pyg track from the edge of Glaslyn and up to the summit
4) The Watkin Path
A "quiet and peaceful" track although Marpig am not too sure when climbing season peak with climbers... It is said to be the track with the greatest change in altitude since climbers starts at 60m above sea level to 1085m on Snowdonz summit. The track passes the Afon Cwm Llan river as well as the Gladstone Rock which commemorates the opening of the path in 1892
5) The Rhyd Ddu Path
It is also one of the easier tracks up to Snowdon, going up gently a broad ridge towards the summit. However, the last 100m are dangerous since it is a very steep slope with scree
6) The Snowdon Ranger
Another quiet track which was named after an early mountain guide who had his home near the starting point of this track. His home is now the Snowdon Ranger Youth Hostel
Next, photo journal bout the day to conquer Snowdon!!
Woke up on a grey and wet morning... luckily the rain stopped but still a little bit of passing drizzle... See those little white dots amongst the greenery? Yupyup!! One th tt Wales has alot are sheep~~!! As the countryside view is so breathtaking (well, you got to be there to feel it!!) Marpig cant resist taking a "framed" photo!!
So nice!! As though one could walk in/out into the photo... :D
From where the log cabin was, Marpig & frens need to drive to the carpark at the bottom of one of the tracks called Pen-y-Pass where pple are getting ready to start the ascent
Hmmm... why did Marpig took a photo of the carz number plate? No... look closer...
EEEKKK!! Itz a black slimey SLUGGIE!! OMG OMG OMG!! *shudders* So u see, one must look beyond the big ths around us to appreciate the smaller beings :)
As it was, Marpig & frens started with the Miners Track and along the way...
Remember Marpig mentioned above tt the Miners Track will bring one pass the Llyn Llydaw? Herez the small lake
Continuing the track, one reached the blue lake (Glaslyn) & think tt is Snowdon...
Walking along the blue lake, one will pass the ruined mine working buildings
Getting closer to Snowdon...!! Notice the blue lake on the left...
The pathway on the left was where Marpig & frens trekked along the lakes b4 the climb bcomes climbing amongst scree and bcos it had rained (& occasional drizzle), the rocky scree has water flowing down, much like climbing a mini waterfall!! Terrain is wet & rocky as oppose to Msiaz wet & muddy tracks!!
After gaining more height, Marpig looked back at the lakes as well as making a short stop (Marpig am feeling squeamish bout the height already!!)
More height and the clouds cleared for some sunshine although itz still cold!! And oh, doggie was making the climb too!! Poor little doggie with little paws!! Marpig watched it and saw tt itz shivering (from the wet and cold) as well as being afraid of heights!! Reason being, it doesnt dare to climb up (later) as the bigger dogs (labradors & german shepards, not in the photos) and the owner had to carry it up for the later part of the steep ascent coming up...
Doesnt look like the photos tt Marpig took? Well, it isnt. But it is the steep ascent tt followed until the summit. As Marpig am too scared by then, she didnt take anymore photos while crawling on all 4s to get up to the summit!! Gosh!!
And finally... the summit of Snowdon!!
Too bad it wasnt one of those good clear daes... but still, itz the summit!!
Guess who made it up as well? :P

The rest is just to go easy on the knees and heavy on phototaking!! Pictures tell a 1000 words!!

Ice cream in Welsh is "hufen ia"... nope, Marpig do not know how to pronounce Welsh (there are not pronounced as their spellings do & dont sound English either)

The place Marpig & frens went was near the coast & hence, therez a mooring for yachts. And to top it all off the last dae, Marpig & frens went to have a game of crazy golf!!

The Final Verdict
Marpig got back into the office and every1 noticed and complimented Marpigz short hairstyle + the fact tt Marpig looks younger and radiant
So, after yrs of xperimenting (as if), the final verdict is tt short hair suits Marpig best, OR Marpig looks better with short hair :D
Indeed, Marpig personally prefers short hair bcos itz so easy to maintain. In addition, itz just so suit Marpigz personality!! Cant be any better!!
Been working hard since, kao. Realised last yrz actions have bcame this yrz actions and client has been happily sitting on them... hello!!

Back in Cosy Barn 3
Sipping on black coffee with a touch of sugar (!! Marpig should be drinking white tea!!) in the wee morning of a freezing day (-5degC), Marpig am blogging a bit b4 she takes a shower and go to work
Didnt manage to do any much last night since the flat isnt warmed up (so am Marpig) so went to bed immediately after dinner like 9 or smth. And as usual, dreamful nights... strange tt Marpig gets dreamless nights back in Cosy Barn Zeroth (make a guess where, present to be won!! *winked at XT*)
Anyw, the last trip back home wasnt happy at all... despite going for a Korean tour which was fun (wanna do skiing and snugging in snow again!!) TT matter negate almost all of Marpigz joy... believe it or not, itz really UGLY
Bout the trip back to Cosy Barn 3. Sigh... wat can Marpig say? Last trip back home was SAD. No1 xcept Beenie and Gin picked Marpig up from the airport, no1 xcept Beenie sent Marpig off... yeah yeah, one shouldnt be so emotional but this IS Marpig + itz still bcos of TT matter... sigh...
Cant imagine next time got to go back to and fro with no1 welcoming Marpig home... home? Just the mere thought of it makes Marpig dread going back
Anyw, as it was, Marpigz lugg was overwt. Allowance for economy class is 20kg but Marpigz lugg was 33.5kg. Man-over-counter said need to pay SGD70 for each xcess kg!! Kao. For tt split moment, Marpig felt like turning back and taking taxi home. But pretended to be a student and said most of the ths in the lugg were books (more like food acutally) and so man-over-counter let Marpig go away with 30kg (allowance for biz class) HOWEVER, lugg still overwt by 3.5kg... in the end, Marpig paid SGD210 for xcess lugg, thank u v much. Well, not tt Marpig has lollies but like wat Marpigz sis said, probs tt can be solved with lollies arent probs (save all the trouble)
1st time and last time Marpig gonna pay for xcess lugg, reason being, next time when Marpig (does) goes back, she will keep it even shorter and lighter... decided to live more and more 潇洒 Like wat Marpig told Beenie, travelling is ez, most impt th for Marpig are sufficient 底裤, of cos, cards, mobile and passport. Enough to go anywhere. Bras? Well, not a must :D
And with all the travelling tt Marpig had done, therez always xxxciting ths happening at the last min. Pple who travelled with Marpig knew best!! Well, this is wat makes travelling with Marpig interesting :D
And so the plane departed with Marpig sitting at the window with 2 young teenagers who kinda get on Marpigz nerve... but oh well...
Flight back to the UK is longer (will xplain technicality in separate bloggie entry) and after 14.5 hrs flight (no sleep), Marpig finally reach LHR. But, journey hadnt ended there, Marpig took another 2 hrs coach ride (slept soundly) back to Bristol and took bout another 0.5 hrs taxi ride back to Cosy Barn 3
Little did Marpig xpect, when she opened the door, an overwhelming smell of fresh paint and/or burning paraffin welcomed Marpig!! :S Till today, the smell is still there and wont go away... had since notified all parties involved and shall see how it goes... hopefully Marpig wont die after prolonged xposure to tt smell (no, not gas leak cos Marpig cooked and nth xplode, CHOY!!) or wont go mad...
Next dae was Marpigz 1st day at work in the new year and therez 80+ emails to clear!! Strange as it was... after clearing the emails, Marpig has almost 90+ "follow-ups"!! Eh... how does tt happened?! Worse, 2 of the projects tt Marpig am working on have last min MAJOR changes!! OMG!! Why cant users make up their minds?! Ths dont change with the click of the fingers!!
*faints*
And yes, Marpig hasnt been eating right since she was back...
Didnt manage to do any much last night since the flat isnt warmed up (so am Marpig) so went to bed immediately after dinner like 9 or smth. And as usual, dreamful nights... strange tt Marpig gets dreamless nights back in Cosy Barn Zeroth (make a guess where, present to be won!! *winked at XT*)
Anyw, the last trip back home wasnt happy at all... despite going for a Korean tour which was fun (wanna do skiing and snugging in snow again!!) TT matter negate almost all of Marpigz joy... believe it or not, itz really UGLY
Bout the trip back to Cosy Barn 3. Sigh... wat can Marpig say? Last trip back home was SAD. No1 xcept Beenie and Gin picked Marpig up from the airport, no1 xcept Beenie sent Marpig off... yeah yeah, one shouldnt be so emotional but this IS Marpig + itz still bcos of TT matter... sigh...
Cant imagine next time got to go back to and fro with no1 welcoming Marpig home... home? Just the mere thought of it makes Marpig dread going back

That Piece of Paper
Mentioned in previous entry tt Marpig and Corn shared the same idea bout marriage and relationships?
Essentially, both believe tt if couples really love one another, marriage is not impt at all (maybe for applying for a flat or combination of wealth) Both love and enjoy single and private life where one has total freedom to do watever ths one likes, anytime, anywhere
Yes, all of us need sm1/sm pple, but tt sm1/sm pple essentially is/are a person who understands ourselves and whom we can relate to, chat bout anyth and everyth under the sun and stars, sm1 whom we enjoy their company and doing ths with, be it men or women
Even frens with bfs have been telling Marpig tt there arent 4ever love, specially so bcos men is just different from women... (ok... duh)
Seen too many cases where pple get married and divorced or just continue to live like a single person after marriage... guess for them, love is not tt deep enough
(At the moment) Marpig believes loving sm1 doesnt have to possess him/her, marriage is not necc. If it works out, great, if it doesnt, move on and find sm1 again, no strings attached. All of us need to try everyth in this lifetime (but not lan jiao lah) Brilliant!!
Anyw, Marpig mentioned bout a guy whom Marpig knew via uni fren in previous bloggie entry? Didnt see this guy b4 and never met him or go out with him. All these yrs, (3 or 4+ yrs), both him and Marpig communicated via msn and emails only
Do not know how it happened or since when (recently Marpig thinks), he started to address Marpig in his emails as "Porks" and will sign off as "Chops" and Marpig sorta go along with him, addressing him as Chops but still signing off as Marpig... hmmm... wat does it mean? And he is the one who also want to learn to fly like Marpig...
Yesterdae also mentioned smth to JM & Corn, if Marpig was to have a marriage without love, she noes which guy she will chose; tt boring guy

Half a Bottle of White
Went to JMz place for dinner yesterday and her mom cooked so many fantastic dishes for Marpig!! Therez buttered prawns, vege with scallops, soul-warming cabbage soup, Marpigz fav long beans with egg and cai bor + a whole lot of other zi char pork and chicken!!

Also poured out all ttz happened to JM and had a bit o chat (her words of wisdom) bout 4giving some1 is a constant process... :) (JM is the one who taught Marpig tt worry is like a rocking chair, it gives u smth to do, but gets u nowhere)
After which, met Corn for a "wine-tasting" session. Catch up abit and got to know tt she had the chance *envious* to take a 3 months' sabbatical leave to do soooooo many ths!! Wah kao. This is not right umk!! Discussed big plans to travel together and diving too
And so, being 2 XZBs, she brought a bottle of white while Marpig brought 2 Styrofoam bowls (no plastic cups u see) & drank white wine like during those ancient times by the old WTC facing Sentosa... talked bout everyth and share views on marriage, relationships, etc and wow!! Cant believe Corn actually understand and think like Marpig does!! Hello!!
And so, each drank 1/2 a bottle and strangely, Corn wasnt much affected but Marpig became a rocking beetroot (felt heavy all over)
Ah~ itz the 2nd time in all of Marpigz yrs of living tt she did this to herself... drinking and pouring out all sorrows and losing control. Feeling was funny cos although Marpig remembered tt shez sober, she must have been doing funny ths cos Corn had to hold onto Marpig. Walked in the middle of the night like a drunkard and the knees felt weak, hence, the occasional squatting down. Couldnt really control wat Marpig said or do... just rem being slumped at a deserted bustop and started crying and laughing with a tinge of nauseating feeling
Dont noe why Marpig am crying too... just want to Marpig guesses... oh well...
Guess every1 needs to lose control of themselves once in a while... the feeling of uncontrollable crying and laughing all at the same time + losing control of the limps can be quite a gd therapy (for sm1 like Marpig) hahahahaha (luckily therez Corn who took care of the insane Marpig)
Walked a bit more and came to sit at the bustop outside sec sch. Started sobering up since the effect of alcohol was wearing off and talked bout photography b4 ciaoing off home to sleep like a pig
Sorry JM, Marpig noes she shouldnt drink too much but u noe... Marpig dont do this often and thank you so much for the dinner and yr words of wisdom :)
Thanks Corn!! For sharing similar views and putting up wiith Marpig being crazy all night. There wont be puking of carrot cake... *winked* And, diving together u said huh!! And pls, read yr Cannon manual!! :)

A New Year
Wat a cliche title...
Waking up into a new year alone isnt all tt bad (not in the context of u-noe-wat) Dad isnt home again
Marpig woke up and asked herself, watz her new year resolution for this yr and heck, cant be bothered bcos wishes and resolutions dont come true (u got to work hard for them to happen)
Despite tt, (all right all right~~) Marpig will still make a few resolution/plans... but 1st, a recap of last yrz resolution and how many Marpig had achieved
*searching searching* Hmmm... nope, Marpig mentioned b4 tt she doesnt believe in resolution and tt making new yrz resolution is not her habit. Hence, didnt find a list of new yrz resolution
But, Marpig did rem smth bout her saying she must visit 5 different places (within the UK or not?) And she did mange to do tt. In fact, Marpig did so much travelling in 2008!!
Right, this yrz resolution will be as such:
Keep up with IMechE reports!! (*&^%$#%^!!
Consciously keep up with beauty and health regime *lazy lazy*
Backpack to Scotland in/ard the month of July
Diving in Lunar 7th month in Redang (?)
Diving in Phuket and attend Mimi Tz wedding in Oct
Attend MWz wedding in Dec (?)
Spend Xmas and New Yr in Finland, looking for and (hopefully) have a cuppa with Santa (?)
Build a snowman
Hmmm but Marpig doesnt have tt many leave and specially when itz more difficult for her to take > 2 weeksz leave...
Anyw, many ths happened whilst Marpig am back this time... she has learnt and realised many ths (again)... Will blog bout it next time, for now, itz bf time!!
