Just visited a website with all those PhD studentships...wanted to find something tt Marpig likes & can do...but quite disappointing because mostly are for UK/EU students...SIGH...
Wanted to do PhD really badly...but don noe start from where...how to find/search? Should Marpig search for the Univeristies to go to OR search for the type of courses OR type of industries Marpig wants to go into in future?
Should start by asking wat Marpig wants to do in future right...did tt...realise Marpig is a jack of all trades but master of none...YET. SIGH... aerodynamics? ttz diff...fluids? even worse...thermal...always wanted to...always...medical...can collaborate with thermal as well...will be fun...just like Marpigz FYP...Design & Manufacturing?... well... Marpig ok with it...Microelectronics? Well... Marpig work with SMT and had quite abit of affinity with solder paste...ahhaha encounter solder paste in IA as well as when working as R & D engr...can incorporate thermal as well... but...SIGH... see, jack of all trades...abit here, abit there...
Can anyone tell Marpig how Marpig can go about finding a suitable PhD? Was already eyeing some lecturers now...hope to be their research student...but then again...I don noe...Kao. Felt rejected whenever Marpig see "For UK/EU students only" SIGH... should Marpig email lecturers in NUS? Ask them for advise? Wat say all of u? Abit crazy right...suddenly email them...

Marpigz been in London for 2 months & 4 daes... how time flies... seems like yesdae! Settling in well...not too bad...weather not cold YET...though windz gettin stronger and sun went to bed at around 430pm... think winter coming... hmmm... but itz late... well.. cos of global warming ba...
Been harping on coursework & programming...kinda received lamentation from some readers... Marpig think so too... but cant blame lah! Really very vexed but now, the sun is shining & the ice are melting... hmm sounds familiar... think itz a phrase in The Phantom... cant put a finger on it though...
Tot of a new comic character to add in Marpigz comic... should Marpig describe?... hmmm.. think Marpig shall start sketching & giving characters descriptions soon...then will release a series of comic stories... think it will really spice up bloggie & frens of Marpig will be delighted! Yes yes, some comp wiz will think tt Marpig is being silly to get so harpy over such mini programming task but hey hey! Itz Marpigz own hardwork! Especially Marpig has been cracking brain, lost sleep, lost alot hair (cos pull too much) over this problem! But itz quite silly of Marpig cos she 4got to apply conservation of energy to another system and harpily write equation! *Silly Marpig!* But, like wat Beenie said, writing a program, seeing it work is really a sense of satisfaction! *BIG WIDE SMILE*
Finished PM assignment one month in adv...cool...gonna hand in on mon...now with Marpigz sis for proof-reading... later gonna finish Numerical Method coursework also...hope can finish wirting & debugging codes... (3 codes to write, Newton Raphson, Bisection, Fixed Pt Iteration) got Newton Raphson so now left 2 more to go!

Seems like Scuba Diving!

Was having lecture todae...an idiot kept kicking the leg of Marpigz chair...itz a very slight kick...but in a small pin-dropped-also-can-hear little room, it really gets on the nerves of Marpig...really wanted to turn around & use Marpigz 绝世猪密集---第一式:美人怒眼神 and tell tt idiot "Whatz yr prob?!" but fortunately for tt idiot, Marpig has got very good temper (Marpig rarely gets angry, yes, loud, but not angry), Marpig didnt 出招...算他走运!
Then got another idiot, same lecture...lecturer was writing equations on the board...was already diff deciphering wat the heck the lecturer was doing on top of the fact tt the lecturer almost lost himself too, and this idiot keeps saying out this & tt bout wat the lecturer should write. MATLAB lah.. driving Marpig crazy... but finally manage to get eigenvalues & eigenvectors...so still ok...Sun whole dae trying to write a FORTRAN code for solving polynomials using Newton Raphson's method...just managed to get it...quite harpy n satisfying! At least got smthing...so PM assignment mostly done!...eh... haven... cos only got the code, haven calculated for all the different polynomials yet! Kao. But with tt prgram, itz easy peasy! :D))

Lack of Concentration
Marpig realises she always get easily distracted to food, comics, dreaming, travelling the whole world, etc. Of course, if Marpig was to really concentrate in something, she will 4get everything else.
Spent the whole dae in a very unconstruction manner...didnt really finish anything...but will do so later for PM assignment...mind keeps wondering to comics todae...
Have some comics tt Marpig simply must buy & add into collection! Saw sets of comics by Tezuka Osamu (手塚治虫) in Kino back in Singapore...didnt get it cos coming to London soon & cant possibly buy it...SIGH & got this comic 一磅的福音 by Rumiko Takahashi (高桥留美子) tt Marpig wanted for many years but no news cos no more in Singapore & cant find it anywhere...bought comics by same author also 人鱼传说 which is very nice but 4got to put inside luggage! :s OMG. Really misses Marpigz collection of comics back at home...:( oh man...
Was going to buy 400+ worth of EC Comics also from US...itz a classic collection and got 15 hard covers comic books in total titled "Tales from the Crypt", "Vault of Horror" & "Haunt of Fear". Itz damn nice! If Marpigz fren 12 noe why it is captivating, try going to National Library and find these titles...sure have & itz really nice!
*Whispers* Marpig wanted so much to collect them tt Marpig once tot of not returning the books to the lib, but then again, Marpig is such an angel so didnt do smth like tt! *proud chilish beaming* :))
Suddenly recalled tt Marpig used to borrow Garfield comic books as well as chinese comics 聊斋志义(did Marpig got the chinese words right?) back in sec schz lib...was also crazy over Snoopy & Asterix! hahahaha Actually, Marpig still is crazy about her comics! Oh, lurves Baby Blue & Sherman's Lagoon too! JM loves them too! XT also have a passion for comics ya! :D

Marpigz Dream (One of the many many many ...)
Marpig used to love drawing since young and even wanted to become a comic artist! Sent a few comic strips & a comic story to Xing Qi Wu Zhou Bao and Chuang Yi b4...comic strip with Marpigz pig was published as well as a comment made with a comic character but the comic story tt Marpig drew in sec sch (PS, Mimi T should noe right?), didnt get any response. The original copy was not even returned... :( Since then, didnt draw much except the trademark pig.
Marpig still lurves reading comics & watching animation/cartoons though...
Anyway, when Marpig was tolking cock to Beenie while we used to work together, Marpig suddenly tot of drawing comics and/or have those created comic characters used in the restaurant cum pub tt both of us wanted to open. Marpig was so enthu (as usual) tt Marpig already tot of how the characters will look & had even given them names! :D)

A couple of daes back, Marpig was cooking lunch once again in Cosy Barn...Noodles, tomato soup and attempting to eat canned mackeral in tomato sauce but changed to canned salmon instead. In the end, had smth nice but looks like a dish for vampires...hahahaha (Anyway, Marpig lurves her chilli as much as tomatoes!)
Had "woodshavings" for bf smtimes...basically itz mixed wheat cereals with some raisins...looks will woodshavings mixed up with milk but hey...itz actually nice wor...hmm...really helps in having large amt of smooth poo poo! :D)) But frankily...nth is nicer than having nasi lemak, chao mee fen/chao mian, Xiu Ji Niang Dou Fu for bf!!!!!!!!! Greggs Dae Again?!
It has since been another week...Friday again = Greggs Dae...had a vege pasty todae...not bad...very hot...(spicy is spicy, hot is hot umk!) but Marpig getting tired of it. During last lecture of d dae, Marpig was seriously comtemplating whether to get Greggs, Subway or Wasabi...

Greggs pasty = 1.05. Might as well get Subway which is bigger & cost 1.95. But then again, might as well get something nicer, bigger at Wasabi at 4.17. Then again, gonna have dinner soon and Wasabi costs too much & too big a portion for a snack b4 dinner. Same goes for Subway. So, might as well get something cheaper & snack size like Greggs.

Marpig done with MATLAB notes...didnt do notes on curve fitting/polynomials but think ttz the last bit...so gonna return those MATLAB books molo...
MATLAB & SIMULINK is fun n nice to use...true, itz kinda easier than FORTRAN...cos can plot graphs immediately! WOW! SHIT. To think Marpig still tot FORTRAN easy...hmm...well, in terms of syntax writing, FORTRAN speaks human language while MATLAB toks computerish; in terms of plotting graphs & plotting visual aids, MATLAB is good. GOSH. Next semester gonna learn CFD = Computational Fluids Dynamics...another kind of programming...kao. But, hey, Marpig starts to think tt itz fun! OMG OMG. The world is spinning the other way!

It's Time
Itz time for Marpig to sit in front of the comp, lament at all things in the world.
Had just finished reading news from CNA. Felt a need to lament. Contents may sound harsh but Marpig has always been very blunt & str 4wrd so no point using flowery words.
Muslims all over the world should really stop praying on one Fri & just stay home, think through bout where your faith is bringing you. Marpig usually tolerates all religions, even to the extent of defending some tt are not Marpigz belief. However, as events show too clearly, something has gone wrong in the Muslim community. At least, the black sheeps are creating the trouble.
Jihad, Marpig don really noe 100% of it but noe tt there used to be wars btw Christain crusaders & Muslims. Why? Fighting for land. Wat else. Duh. But tt is history! Itz globalization, itz respect for humanity, for lives! Now! Wat Jihad! Itz crazy! Itz silly! You cant force a Muslim world on others just like no one can force you to bomb & kill!
Watz all the rubbish on freeing oneself from Americans?! They did nth wrong. You didnt rule your country well, ttz why you give others a chance to "help" you. You created troubles, all the more they don 12 leave. Analogy, if a student wants a teacher to stop nagging, he/she has to prove to the teacher he/she is hardworking or something, not being a spoilt brat!
Suicide bombers... Eternal glory?! Or eternal stupidity?! Hatred from your own pple as well as others. Really, how come pple can be so easily brained washed?!

Feeling Sad is to Be Happy
Buay tahan, Marpigz mood is apparently, most eccentric, most unpredictable, most unusual, etc. Just like a biz cycle, Marpigz mood changes with cresses & troughs, but in a much narrower time scale. Marpig can feel happy one moment & damn sad the other.

Wat is the thing we missed most about a person whom we didnt get to see or had lost? The face? The company? The way the person smiles? The way the person cares for us? None of those actually.
It is the person's voice.
Think deeper & you will noe why Marpig say tt.
Yes, pictures & memories are very impt. However, no matter how gd they are, memories & pictures can never ever let us hear tt person's voice again.

Burning out...kept studying like preparing for some big exams...cant help it...cos Marpig really 12 do well...& no time, no pple to help also...others don noe (don noe they fake or wat)
Saw Marpig in mirror...eyebags 3fold, a dimple (suddenly) hmmm... is it becos when one gets older, face features also change?
Haven really smile or felt truly happy inside...bad for health...

Received call from Marpigz dad...asking Marpig the upteen times bout burning his pictures in CD. Countless times...discovered one thing bout Marpigz dad which is similar to some students:
1) Want to learn but don put heart into doing so. How to remember?
2) Mistake made, correct it or admit, don put blame on all other things/pple except self.
Anyway managed to burn again...but told Marpigz dad tt itz not comp smth wrong, itz smth he did accidentally & change somethings...but then again, he managed to learn quite abit liao...hmm...

Been in sch for 2 weeks...used up a new pen ink...
a) PM total 13 chapers, finished 6 chapters = 46% completed
b) *DSS txt 10 chapters, finished 4 chapters in 6 daes (only!) = 40% completed, still got so many appendixes to practice!
c) Fortran total 10 chapters, finished 4 chapters (only!) = 40% completed
d) Matlab notes, 2 books (1st bk 1 wk loan, 2nd bk 4 wks loan), 0% completed, just borrowed todae.
Biang. Not Marpig 12 burn out but like so many things to do & piling up & no time & progress wols! Though finished a new pen ink within 1st 2 wks of sch...1st time leh

The Most Loved & The Most Hated
Most Loved Place: Changi Airport
Had alot of fond & crazy memories there. Started going airport while in sec sch to celebrate birthdaes *grins*, then went there to study (itz a trend then), then sent Marpigz sis off & back & off & back, Marpigz dad as well sometimes, went there when unhappy also to look at aeroplanes. Itz a place where pple come & go, families & frens separate & reunited.
Most Hated Place: SGH

Then Marpigz mom been in & out of hospital during tt period when she is suffering from cancer...everydae visit her after dinner with dad...stayed with her on tt fateful night...world crushed on tt night...suddenly...lost all senses...all orientation...all feelings...*tears streaming* HATE the hospital. HATE tt familiar smell. HATE tt familiar corridors. HATE those familiar heart-wrenching memories. Life is never the same anymore, again.

Behind Time
Very scared not enuff time to fin all things Marpig 12 do. Matlab, Fortran, PM, Numerical Methods, Laplace, Dynamic Systems & Simulation...so many notes need to make & revise, so many things to recall & learn from scratch. Pressure.
MUST really buck up & have some routine fixed up.
Sleep at 2am wake up at 8am.

Wat a dae.
1) Lab todae but silly Marpig didnt bring password to log into system in lab. Luckily another fren allow Marpig to use his username & password cos hez not there todae.
2) Lab is about Matlab. Kao. Marpig didnt touch it at all, don noe a shit bout it. Syntax totally diff from C & Fortran. Got to borrow Matlab bk & learn from scratch...on top of tt, need to fin up Fortran bk.
3) After lab, saw an old man (think a lecturer) hugging a 3-weekz old black cocker spaniel! Itz a dear! Watery beady eyes, cute face ARGH! soooo cute & lovable! *squeeze squeeze* Marpig felt itz paws & put snout to doggiez nosie :D According to tt man, itz official name (or smth like tt) is "Spirit of Greece"

Too tired & shagged...blue monday...headaches, feverish, nua goh goh, eyes dry & nose bleed. Is these signs of burning out? Gonna baby-sit nephew on Wednesdae...gosh...Marpig scared of looking after children cos need 101% energy to entertain & play with them! But at least from Marpigz nephew, Marpig learnt tt Peter Parker is Spider Man... :p
Wanted so much to just watch vcd & sleep but will definitely feel guilty...so Marpig gonna study abit then rest...
Todae PM lecture sleep again...damn boring...cos:
1) Marpig studied b4 hand so noe though haven memorise yet.
2) Lecturer goes on & on & on & on & .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
Then todae went Dynamic Systems & Simulation Lecture (abbre. DSS thereafter) was doing a revision on matrix...gosh. Marpig got her notes back at home & Marpig 4got nearly 70% & was lost when lecturer tolks bout eigenvector & eigenvalue!
SIGH, received email & photos from a fren who went Africa & trek...the view is damn breath-taking! Marpig WILL & SHALL GO next time! Don wanna waste the short life Marpig has on Earth...will want to try parasailing & hand-gliding (with a guide of cos!) Will want to learn flying & get the motorbike licence! So many things to do, so little time...think Marpigz frens who read this will go like, "Again...tt pig always want to do so many things! *Smile*" :)

Think molo will walk to lib to study...wow...181 deg change for Marpig...last time in uni never been so 乖...only times when Marpig really studies hard is O & A levels & uni 3rd & 4th yrs...Really hope can be a good lecturer next time...teaching students, planning outdoor activities with them...wow...Marpig can ALMOST touch tt dream...how long will Marpig have to wait? Remembering...
Marpig was doing notes on Project & Product Management (abbre. PM thereafter) & occasionally, will put down Marpigz ex-bossz name after a point in order to better memorise tt point. Hahaha, bcos sometimes certain egs in PM does reminds Marpig of the time when Marpig is working. 1 gd eg is the attitudes of the leader.
a) A leader can view a subordinate with different views as a prob employee OR
b) A leader can view a subordinate with different views as an innovator
Marpigz ex-boss keeps asking pple to challenge him & to give him ideas, etc. Had a pretty high opinion of Marpig...if Marpig gets a salary rise as well as gets promoted, maybe Marpig would have just stayed in Singapore! hahahahaha
But Marpig must say tt ex-boss really taught Marpig alot, gave Marpig all the freedom & opportunities to learn...was really grateful to him
